| Well I'm a tattoo virgin and I'm really serious about getting one finally. I'm in a transitional period of my life and it seems like an ideal time to do it up. I was looking for some people's input on here.. 1st, how do copy write laws work with tattoos? If I find a design that I like online and want to replicate it would an artist have to change them up a lot? or would they be able to just stencil that design? (Freedom User, you're input would be greatly appreciated here) 2nd, The actual tattoo idea itself.. I'm looking for some ideas. I want a tattoo that represents balance/harmony/moderation..These are all things that are important to me in living my life..I'm looking for symbols or ideas that represent these ideas (and not overly-common symbols like ying yangs and such, I want something original)... Any ideas would be great. Obviously, I would end up personalizing it, but I'm trying to come up with some sort of symbol or concept to build around.. Last edited by glorious : 06-01-2008 at 08:37 PM. | BME: Body Modification Ezine - The biggest and best online bod-mod site since 1994 this website is a great resource for tattoos and really all body modification stuff. you can look at tons of pics of different styles of tattoo, and get lots of good info. and about the copyright thing, i'm not positive but i'm pretty sure you can just get whatever drawing you want, especially if you personalize it. lots of people get tattoos that are inspired by a tattoo that's already been done. finding a good artist is key. talk to friends that have gotten tattoos locally and ask what they think of the artists they saw. hell, if you see a stranger with a badass tattoo it wouldnt hurt to ask who drew it. look at tattoo magazines. all the pics are referenced to the artists that made them. you might find some in your city that way. be aware when someone might be charging you a suspiciously high price, but don't go to the discount guy either. a tattoo is something you keep with you for life, so it pays to do it right; be willing to pay for good work. once you have an idea of the the images and style you want for your tattoo. go to your artist and tell him what you're thinking. experienced tattoo artists are good at elaborating on your ideas and thinking of stuff you wouldn't have thought of, and they are usually happy to sit down with you and discuss ideas with you. it's part of their job. hope that helps. i'm not a tattoo expert. i just learned a bit from spending some time in tattoo shops and talking to a lot of people with tattoos. |
