| I think I would stay the fuck away from that rollercoaster. haha kidding. Well to be honest I'm not a fan (however photography was NEVER my forte and I'm far to picky... for valid reasons in my opinion). If you are trying to get something "meaningful" out to your audience I personaly think that you missed the boat. There is a strong accentuation of dirt, grit as well as old elements when it comes to the rollercoaster (which I presume was your point of interest in the photograph) however there is such a great lack of balance concerning the rich hues of green and light red in the bushes and trees. When working with a focal point it's always better to balance your "point of interest". Because it's on the side you throw the audiences eyes off and it's not estheticly a good effect. With this picture you actualy have the rollercoaster competing with that small bush beside it. In this case it seems to me as if it would have been better to get a different perception of the scene as well as fiddling with the contrast, final product in hand. Take this information with however many grains of salt you wish! ![]() Edit: the rubish on the side also distracts the eye from the rolercoaster because there are light colors and even a reflection in the glass. The rolercoaster has an excelent growth of vines that if captured like so (being mostly coaster with vines and trees at a distance in the background) would have been terrific and captivating.

| I ran it through photoshop and I think it is a much stronger photo in black and white.

| OK, compositionally, it works. You could crop the left side a little. That might make it a little better, might not. Your choice, but photoshop has an undo button. I'd mess with the curves a bit. I mean there are alot of directions you could go with it. I think greyscale would look really good, or signifigantely reducing the saturation, but that sort of thing is almost standard for the "rusted out pices of metal in the woods" shots, and there is something I like about the high contrast nature. Maby go into the individual RGB curves/levels and give the 3 main elements (green foliage, sky/windows, rusted out roller coaster) different tints? Like lower the intensity of the green, add some brown to the sky and make the roller coaster come out more orange? I mean there are a million different ways to do it, but you have the proportions of one element to another down really well, it's just all about getting the colors and values to work. EDIT: I messed around with your image in photoshop, PM me if you want to see it. Last edited by Bowies_Wanger : 11-02-2009 at 02:19 PM. |

| technically. talking from a photographers point of view its very very good the colors contrast well with the rusted roller coaster while the supports guide your eyes all over the image the only thing i would change is go back and pull out the weed in the front of the photograph other then that its very good
