most of these are just random doodles that eventually become something bigger. I'm really into character/figure drawing and I usually begin with the head - if I create a look, expression, anything that excites me, I take the time to develop it further. Sometimes ideas just never seem to stop flowing... others it's difficult to know where to begin - my sketchbook is filled with halfway finished characters and images that I may or may not complete... it's all about having fun and occassionally learning a few things. Rarely do I begin a drawing, that's not from observation, knowing exactly what it's gonna be. Inspiration can come from anywhere - my mood, the days events, a conversation, someone else's mood or expression, a song, anything... Marijuana can help sometimes, its not necessary, but seems to make drawing an entirely different experience - making it easier to develop an image based on clashing values instead of lines defining everything (collages are fun as **** to build - smoke a bowl, put on some deftones and just let the pencil flow for a few hours) but, learning new techniques and doing more technical drawing is best left for teh soberness.

Another update...
new collage, can't decide if i'll finish or not

Here's some stuff from class, it's not cool, but it gives you an idea the type of **** im wasting my time with The class work isnt the type of stuff I'm interested in, but what I'm learning should prove helpful. All done in charcoal unless otherwise noted, and I apologize for the picture quality - these are 18x24 so I could not scan them, just had to take photos...

Some thumbnails and their corresponding larger images...

Master study project - not going for direct recreation, but to recreate the drawing while focusing on value shapes..
Here's the original for reference...

My first attempt at it, near the begining of the year, when we were just supposed to outline the shapes.... my teacher was pissed that I started on value; i like this alot better than the other, but I'll never finish it...

Rollerball Pen/ Ballpoint pen drawings - homework assignments, these aren't 18x24 like the rest :P
