This was originally started as just a random collage, but with the 311 halloween concert, I've decided to dedicate it to the band as well as to my favorite 311 song, Taiyed. The image is a result of listening to lots of Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, and Deftones in the past few weeks - but the work gone into it is a definately a result of the impact 311 has had on my life, and most recently the show they had at the Moore theatre on 10-31.

Taiyed as told by Tim: (Tim): tayd, with a line above the a, rhymes with jade, wade, raid, maid, laid, etc. The word could be defined as an adjective describing a feeling of highness, bliss, happiness, etc. Taiyed is an altered state of conciousness, usually accompanied with a positive mental attitude (PMA-see Bad Brains.) The term was coined by a friend of ours during high school, probably Dave Barker, or possibly Nick, I’m not certain. Taiyed can be attained thru yogas and meditations, or, as Robert Anton Wilson (I think) says, "thru the backdoor" with the help of such things as thc, psilocybin, nitrous oxide, alcohol, etc.

It will be edited/colored in Photoshop and printed as a 20x30 display piece along with the definition of Taiyed and my 311 ticket stubs. It's wierd, this song has been my favorite for some time now, but I've failed to analyze the lyrics to a point where I understand and love them at the point I do today. That sounded kind of gay, deal with it.

Oh, and here's me if I was a joint....

Thanks alot for the kind words everyone - both in this thread and others, I appreciate it very much. I spend too much time at cgtalk.com and conceptart.org where everyone is just ****ing amazing, so hearing motivating words is very refreshing. I'll dump my sketchbook in this thread either tonight or tommorow morning depending on what's going on around here, but I'm looking forward to getting more feedback!
