| I had a thread on this before , but when I searched for it nothing came up.(ok I found it, I searched cheap talk by mistake, here is the link if you want to see the pictures while I was working on it) Anyway I am almost done, and both the neck and the body have finish on them. The neck is just finished with some high quality poly, and nothing but linseed oil on the fingerboard, but the body has high-tech automotive clearcoat on it. It's fucking glass. So these are almost the last pictures, tomorrow I screw the neck on the body and string her up. Enjoy the pictures and if you have any questions about it ask away. It's a class at my school by the way. ![]() ![]() -Both of the front, although I took these before the bridge went on. ![]() ![]() -the back ![]() -lacewood cover for the electronics pocket, I couldn't put plastic on it. ![]() -the neck ![]() -mother of pearl inlays we made(my initials-JB) ![]() -and finally the headstock, gotoh tuners and curly maple. I will have the finals pictures up soon, I can't wait to play it. |

| That is amazing, although one pic is triplicated. (You're viewing the thread, so I'm willing to bet you're fixing that right now...) You'll have to let us know how it sounds when it's all said & done.

| a few kids have finished already, and so far all of them sound fucking amazing. Besides some fret rattle or screwed up action which just takes some time to fix, they sound better than any purchased guitar I've heard. Because the teacher is in the industry he has hook up's on the best gear for really cheap, especially because it's for a school. We use hand wound pickups, the best tuners, hand wire everything, and he really knows what he is doing. We use really good wood too, which helps the sound. The you can also turn the humbuckers into single coils by pulling the tone nob up, and turning one of the coils in each off. It sounds just like a tele when you do that. I hope mine sounds as good as the finished ones, and I should find out tomorrow! |

| yea, well it's full year coarse, 1.5 hours every other day at school, but I spend a lot of that time, playing guitar, doing other wood shit, or doing homework for math(class after guitar building). The class costs 150$ for parts, but the students who took it more than once have sold guitars for over 1000$, the highest was 1500$ I think. It's really cool because we start at the beggining of the year with a truck that comes with like 20 foot planks of ash, curly maple, lacewood, bubinga, purple heart, cherry, mahogany, and walnut. Then we go from there. I have the process of making the thing in the other thread, the links at the top of this thread if your interested. |
