yeeaaahhh. are any of you stoners also writers. as in, graffiti, not novels. i just started and i fuckin love it. I write Bas. (pronounced bass. like the music).

So any writers give a shout out. and what you write, and where.

graffiti is a touchy thing for me as I hate to see it on the backs of stop signs and on some poor persons fence at the same time it can be a bueatiful statement when done with taste.
I can only enjoy it on canvas or another possiably recycled medium.
I hope you see what Im saying and decide to produce only tastefull art on designated art spaces. Otherwise its just trash to covered up and forgotten.

IMHO, there are two kinds of grafitti.

The vast majority of it is a simple tag, where someone uses spray paint to let people know they were in that location. It's stupid, it's pointless, and it's defacing public or private property. It looks like shit.

Then there is grafitti art. Murals, the guys int eh80s that would bomb the NYC subway trains (The "Christmas Trains" come to mind) and use a wide pallette of color and style. That is very cool to look at.
Granted, unless it's commissioned (or allowed) by the property owner, it's still illegal. It's just more enjoyable to look at, not to mention it requires actual artistic talent.

Putting your name on a wall or a road sign just requires a lack of respect of someone else's property and a can of Krylon.

Bravo. And bravo to the OP, I laughed. You write Bas...for some reason when I read it the words came across with such confidence and importance...and that struck me so deep I went outside to my shed and painted something all across one side. "Pos". Yea. I dig that and I mean I dig that. I might put it on my house too, oh and on my car! Yea! Everything with big red letters "P-O-S". Rockin'. I am going to be so popular.

if you dont like the word i picked, then great for you. but im new to graffiti, so mabey your stupid words could influence me, mabey i should write on my car and shed so i can be super cool too. NO. its not about being cool. and you dont write on cars.
And just because its called graffiti doesn't mean that it should be covered up or buffed. Many tags have years of practice and dedication behind them. Tags in themselves are an artform. its the same thing as painting a portrait, or drawing a picture. its an artistic outlet, that happens to have drifted from the canvas to the streets.

long time graff writer... honestly i cant stand toy(beginer at graff) but i know that you have too start off some weres.graff will never die off... love the smell of fresh paint.. and there are leagle places for getting up.
