As if anyone from the medical marijuana community needed further evidence, as to the ability of any large government, to come down and crush an individual citizen, which speaks up against an injustice that they see. Witness Julian Assange; who today has taken refuge in Ecuador’s Embassy in London.
The Ecuadorian Foreign Minister, Ricardo Patino, of the leftist country stated that President Rafael Correa, was contemplating Mr. Assange ‘s request. However at the time of this incident the president had not decided how he might resolve this issue.
Mr. Assange’s latest judicial fight for freedom with Britain’s Supreme Court came less than a week after they had rejected his request to re-open extradition blockades this week. Mr. Assange is currently being sought for further questioning regarding to sexual misconduct charges that were levied against him in early 2010. The allegations, for which he also denies, Mr. Assange had chosen to seek political asylum in Ecuador, claiming that it was impossible for him to return to his homeland of Australia as they would not guarantee his protection from being extradited to “a foreign country that applies the death penalty for the crime of espionage and sedition”.
