So the company I work for got bought by another company ... and this new company drug tests (of course).

I smoked a little 6 days before the test, but hadn't smoked anything for about 3 months prior. Got a heads up on the test 3 days in advance ... brushed, gargled peroxide and mouthwash, and sucked altoids up until about 30 minutes before the test.

I'm fairly confident I passed, but I am wondering what the turnaround time on a test like this is. It was an Intercept mouth swab, sent to Quest Diagnostic. They told us if it comes up positive, we'll get a call ... if not then we won't hear anything. I took the test last Friday so its been 8 days, and no news is good news of course.

How long do you think before I'm in the clear?
Has anyone gotten a failed result from a swab test later than 8 days? All your help is appreciated. Thanks.

You should be in the clear by now. Given your history, and the fact that you brushed, gargled and used mints, I estimate you passed. Usually it takes 24 hours for negative tests, 3-5 days for positives to be confirmed, then an MRO must call you. If no one calls you on Monday, you should be able to quit worrying.
