I have a chance to get a great job at the company my mom works for. Got the offer, now just need to pass the hair test. Here are my stats..

5”5” female 120lbs
Blond somewhat thin hair, shoulder length
Thin- fast metabolism

Used to smoke daily about a bowl.. on the weekends more than that, maybe two or three bowls. I quit about 45 days ago and took 2 hits off a bowl once may 31. I’ve been around second hand smoke the entire time. I have to go take a hair test at a Concentra location tomm. and its being sent to quest diagnostics. The top of my hair has been highlighted every other month for the past few years and I just redyed all of my hair on Sunday. Didn’t bleach though. I used aloe rid shampoo and mixed clean and clear astringent in last night, then used this hair gloss product I had by john frieda. I bought t-sal today and plan on using that tonight a few times.I also have zydot for the day of the test.

What are the chances that I will pass? How can I be assured they will be testing the root of my hair and not the ends when the sample is sent in? Can you "pass" with low levels or is it simply pass/fail?


I am so nervous about this. Anyone with input, pleas let me know. I can’t afford to not get this job. My mom will be so upset if I make her “look bad” at her company.

Well, I can't give you a percentage of whether you will pass or fail. Your hair is thin and you are of a caucasion descent (I assume since you say your hair is blond) so you have that going for you. You also Have treated hair which is also a good thing.

They know which end is the root end because it is packaged so the root end is trapped in an aluminum foil wrap. It is packaged the same way every time, so the lab knows which end is the root end and which end is not.

With 45 days clean and the treatment, coupled with thin, colored hair, you have a good chance of passing; although not great. I give you a 50/50 chance.

Mind you, this is just a GUESS. I have been wrong before, and I will be wrong again, but on this estimate, I'm going to only 50% wrong.

There is a cutoff level, which generally limits out at approximately 3 smoking sessions over a 90 day period. You have exceeded that by 15 times, but maybe the treatments helped. You can only wait and see now.

Tonight you can continue to treat your hair, the harsher the better (within reason, don't put your life or health at risk).

With the treatment you have already done and the Zydot the morning of the test, I give you 90%. Good luck and post your results. Don't forget the Zydot the morning of the test.

thanks.. the 90% makes me feel good. 50/50 makes me nervous! i just washed my hair with t-sal and aloe rid x2 for each again and have two boxes of zydot for tomm. when i take the test. man, i cannot wait until this is over. The results are going directly to the company i got the job offer from. how long until i hear the results do you guys think? thanks again!

3-5 business days. You don't actually get told " You passed your drug test". You also don't get the results. Whoever pays for the test, gets the results.

If the MRO calls you.......you probably failed
If HR calls you.......you probably passed.
HR is know to drag their ass. They already have a job. Don't get nervous if you don't hear in 3-5 days. Do get nervous if the MRO calls you. I honestly think you will be fine.

Thanks guys. I am taking the test today and will let you all know when i find out the results. I washed my hair with zydot twice this am, so hopefully that helps.

This forum has been a lot of help, or at least has given me some piece of mind. No one seems to understand how stressful this situation is unless you've been through it! It is especially frustrating when you know you can pass a piss test..but get hit with the hair test. Plus, besides smoking, i am pretty straight. I haven't touched other drugs since i was in h.s and "experimented" a little." For this job, I have a BA from a great school, good references and know i will have a clean background/credit check. It really gets me that someone in my position has to worry this much about traces of thc. give me a break, im obviously a capable person! thats my rant.. have a good day

This forum gave me a lot of help a little over 2 years ago and I feel I wouldn't have had a chance of passing without it. The piece of mind never came until I received the call that I got the job.
It is stressful to take the test and the waiting to find out if you got the job is even worse. The surprise of taking a hair test instead of a piss test has lost many people a good paying job. You were one of the fortunate ones that new in advance it would be a hair test. Some haven't had that opportunity.
It is too bad that companies drug test. It isn't their business what you do on your own time or 3 months prior to being on their payroll. Compensation insurance companies are what drives companies to test. The old "Drug free work place" has screwed us all or maybe buy using drugs while at work we have screwed ourselves. (That is a whole different topic though)
Good luck with your test results. If the HR dept. doesn't drag their ass you should know in 3-5 business days.

Did you feel like you could accurately use the Zydot with the little amount of purifying(2nd step) shampoo they give? I have shoulder length hair and feel like I only got coverage on half my head with the little packet they give?

there definitely wasn't very much purifying stuff..i tried to just get it on the hair closet to my scalp figuring that is what would be tested. I did use the whole zydot process twice the morning of my test, so hopefully that helped. I'm still waiting on my results, but I'm hoping to get a call from HR today with some type of update on where this process stands. This suspense is killer and i can't deal with it! I'll keep you all posted..
