will the hair eventually die...?

About a month ago my boyfriend was hair tested by his parents. He was an everyday user, and was clean about 3 weeks before the test. He did Macujo method every day for about a week and a half, and also used shampoo from GNC called Max HTR I think. He also got his hair cut to about an inch and a half. They sent it off to Psychemedics, and weeks passed and the test still wasnt there. So they assumed it got lost in the mail, until they decided to call one last time and it had arrived. So from the time they cut the hair off his head to the time it was recieved at Psychemedics it was approximately 3-4 weeks. If there was anything left in his hair after doing all that treatment, would the drug metabolites die since the hair had been off the head for so long? hope this makes sense. Please help!

THC isn't alive. Yes, the specimen will be as viable as it was the day he gave the specimen.
