Detection times

How come it says the detection of THC done by a saliva test is no longer than 24 hours everywhere I look? Even on Wikipedia, NORML site, Intercept site. They all say THC or metabolites can't be detected longer than 24 hours. Well if that's the case, how come so many people on here failed their saliva test? I get tested this way for probation so I would love a definite answer, though I realize I probably won't get one. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Bad luck? Maybe they didn't clean their mouths very well or they smoked in their cars on the way to take the test... Great way to fail right there!

After 24 hours, the tests are unreliable. It doesn't mean they cannot be detected, it means they can't be detected reliably and consistently after 24 hours.

Ok if it can't be detected reliably after 24 hours, how can it be used for serious shit like testing for probation? I have a saliva test coming up this Friday, for probation. On the sheet I received in the mail, it says you can pay an extra $25 on top of the already $32 (for the test itself) to get it tested more in depth apparently? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have read the entire 12 pages of Grill Meats thread and plan on following his method to the T.

Ok so if I follow Grill Meats directions to the T, and abstain from smoking for 24 hours, can I feel safe that I will pass my saliva test for probation this Friday?

I'd recommend stop smoking now. The longer you abstain the better. Why take chances?
