I am expecting a hair test for preemployment I have not smoked since March 2003. I am overweght but I get my hair chemically relaxed and color rinse every 6-8 weeks since 3/03. Which includes my ends being cut. My hair length is to the lower part of my neck. I need to know if I am safe or should I do something?? Can I choose the hair they cut, like at the nape of my neck so not to mess up my styled hair? Yes we women worry about that. My hair is short underneath about 1.5 inches. I read the guidelines that say they are only to take 1.5 inches of hair. I am scared

I've heard they will take the entire length of the hair, this is obviously bad news for people with long hair. The only solution of course, is to cut your hair, which is usually not an option for womenfolk. They may let you choose from where they cut the hair, but I wouldn't count on it. They really don't need much, especially if it's long. It's not that they take 1.5 inches, it's that they need 1.5 inches (that's where they get the 90 days stat from). All I can think of is doing macuj0's method, and if possible bleach and perminant-dye your hair back to its original color.

Did you mean March 2004? If it was March 2003, I dont think that you have anything to worry about but I am definatley no expert on this type of testing.

I have not smoked since march 2003 I am real paranoid it is bad enough missing the herb. They cut the nap of my neck my hair is short there.

First, Just wanted to thank everyone on this site for providing helpfull ideas. Good info from most, too late for help in my case. Anyway, I had to submit to a "surprise" hair test at application submission. It was too late for anything except a few beers afterward.
I just though I would give some ideas to calm some of you that are very light smokers like myself. Took the test on fri 4/19/2004, last smoked a 1 hit ( great stuff!) on 3/14 (33 days ago), a "fatty" on 3/6 (41 days) and several 1-hits on 2/21(55 days ago).
Like I said it was too late for anything at all, so I gave the hair, almost 2 inches since my last cut 30 days ago. I spent the last 4 days reading all these threads and sweatin' it. Found a great article on the sensitivity of hair testing regarding THC at http://ddtaservicesinc.com/html/hair.html. Although it's not from Psychemedics, it's from a company called Omega labs that runs the same testing. After reading, and realizing that it was out of my control and that the THC screen is the hardest to detect on light users, I enjoyed the rest of the weekend.
Just got the call that I passed the test. I'm an average guy who doesn't exercise(so normal metabolism), and is probably 15-20 lbs overweight( extra fat cells for storage they claim), and has dark hair. Supposedly "3 strikes" on me! I'm sure I registered on their chart but I guess it was below the "industry agreed threshold".
Just my experience, hope it helps somone....
