OK, I'll admit it, I'm new to the forum....please forgive me for jumping in and immediately begging for help! I was just contacted for a job interview IN TWO DAYS at a company for which I would really like to work. The problem is....I just found out that they do pre-employment hair follicle testing. Based on past experiences, I am expecting to be offered the job--and am guessing that I will be sent for the test pretty much immediately. I do a few hits 3-4 times a week. Not extremely heavy, but fairly consistent. My hair is shoulder length, medium textured, and light brown. I have worked really hard to grow it out over the past couple of years (used to wear it quite short, a pixie cut) and I'm really disturbed by the thought of ruining it! I don't have loads of cash to spend on this, so I'm restricted to the less expensive methods. I would like to know what has/has not worked for others, especially those who smoked recently before being tested. Please help--I'm totally freaking out! I promise to post my results. ![]()

Very true, and I read them all. It just seemed as though none of them was specific enough to my personal situation (i.e. lack of preparation time, having smoked recently), and I felt that it might be worth asking.

1. Buy Vinnegar - $2.00 2. Buy Nexxus Aloe Rid - $4.00 3. Buy Clean and Clear pink formula - $4.00 4. Buy Tide - $6.00 Bury your head of hair in all of these as much as you can. My results come back tommorrow ... Ugh, I admit I am nervous.

Try to relax--there's nothing more you can do now. I've reached a point where I know that I'm doing everything I can...if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. I mean, it will suck, but c'est la vie. The only solid option is to quit smoking....and is that even really an option? ![]() I'm doing all of the above, with one modification: I was unable to find Aloe Rid locally so am using Prell. Crap, I know...but it is a strongest shampoo available (this info comes from a hairdresser). It's very useful for removing a bad dye job; why not other things? I'll let you know how it works out--unless I don't have to take the test. Supposedly it's mandatory for all new hires, but I have a friend who didn't have to do it. That is my ultimate soultion! Phreaky, I wish you much luck. Try not to stress too much while waiting for your results...although I can imagine how frustrating the wait must be! ![]()

Vinnegar, Tide, and Clean and Clear is probably enough ... Good luck to you too.

whisper - In addition to the above method, I would not give up on trying to find Nexus Aloe Rid Shampoo & Treatment. I would check every hair salon in your local area - just call them first to save time. I found Aloe Rid shampoo at the mall at the JC Penny's salon. Also found the Aloe Rid treatment at a Hair Cuttery, I don't know if they're national or not but there all over the place here where I live. My hair absorbs the aloe rid treatment like a sponge, I don't even have to wash it out really. I've not had to take a hair test yet but I figure it's got to be helping somewhat.
