Well I had found some research on that as well, also talking about the effects of UVA/UVB rays on hair. It definitely makes sense especially since it has an effect on the melanin much like bleaching your hair. I am sure your poor hair is crunchy much like mine was up until this afternoon, as soon as I found out I was good I buzzed much of the treated hair off. I still have patches of orange hair though. How is your scalp and hairline? I tried soaking off most of my scabs, it's just hard keeping your head under water that long comfortably.

Really freaking on my crunchy hair.

On Tuesday night I will be doing my 4th bleach and redye. It will be exactly one month since I completed my third.

I cut my hair to 1" the other day, but it's WAYYY crunchy and straw-like.

I'm considering using 20 developer for only like 10 minutes or so..I think that will still open up the cuticle..and then I'll wash it out with Toxin Wash/PM3/ION, before I redye.

I'm considering just dyeing. Such a hard decision. Having my hair break off will really put a damper on my real test.

Hey Invaded good luck with your 4th redye! You might just try stopping in a beauty supply store and see what someone there thinks. Or maybe even a salon and see if they would treat your hair in its current shape. Honestly in my opinion you will know when the hair is going to fall out because you will start to lose the really fine hairs along the edge of your hairline first. You also might try using a light conditioner once and a while or taking some vitamins to strengthen hair. Good luck let us know how it turns out for you!

Thanks, kush. You're absolutely right. I have been taking Prenatal vitamins and B-12 & such for the past month or so.

I've finally been conditioning as well. For the last 4 days I've used a shower cap on my head, to let the oils really build up on my scalp.

I may take your advice on the salon. That's a good idea. As far as fine hair around the hair line, I have a receding hairline, so it's hard to tell

I just saw that Sec threw out the advice that if you've shaved your head at 2 weeks, all of your new hair will be clean. I've seen it said before.

Since I cut my hair to 1" at day 79, with standard hair growth times the conventional wisdom would tell me to relax.

With my experience, I was worried about my scalp more than my hair. If the scalp is damaged severely, I think it may completely impede any further hair growth at all. On that note, I'd recommend some leave in conditioner directly on the scalp area you want to treat, but to avoid contact with your hair. The method we use (Jerry G) is designed around the fact that extremely dry, damaged hair loses it's ability to hold metabolites over time.

However, it would make sense that when you're done with the treatments for the day, a conditioner massaged into your hair wouldn't add any extra metabolites. But to be on the safe side, I would advise against conditioning the hair strands and focus on just conditioning the scalp until the test sample has been taken.

As far as scalp damage, we've been in very different situations. My 3rd bleach and redye was done 30 days ago exactly. So my scalp is a-ok, but the hair is messed up!

I agree with you on dry damaged hair..this is exactly what we want.

I'm actually thinking of just using ION Swimmers conditioner in the morning tomorrow, which leaves my hair soft and nice for like 12 hours, and then later in the evening, while it's still soft, doing a quick bleach with 20 developer for only like 15 minutes, washing out with Toxin Wash/PM3/ION, and then dyeing with Wella Color Charm and 20 developer.

I think I'll feel better if I condition in the morning, that way I won't be putting the bleach directly on my dry, brittle hair.

Just received personal test results.

Negative across the board, relevant cutoff 1.0pg/mg. Lab was Omega.

If you look up a user named "V MAN", you'll see that he took a test that was sent to Omega. He passed it and later failed a PDT-90 hometest. Hmm.

Anyways, the collector told me that since my hair was slightly shorter than 1.5, the report would say what period the test covered, 60, 75 days, etc.

My hair was at 1.25, I know this for a fact, and the report said 1.5 inches, 0 - 90 day history covered. I would think Omega knows how to use a ruler..but..

Anyways, the day after I took that test I cut my hair to 1" on the back, sides, and crown.

Today is my 83rd day clean!

Toughest decision of my life: Do I do a brief bleaching tonight and then redye. Or do I just redye and do Toxin Wash treatments until I take my test.

I felt my hair right after I woke up..and it felt like I sprayed a shitload of hairspray in it. I'm just tripping hard that it's going to break off.

BUT I HAVE THE PACKET OF BLEACH ALREADY!! I FEEL LIKE I HAVE TO USE IT!! I've had it in my mind, and have recommended to others, you have to do everything you can. You don't want to kick yourself later. Tough call, folks.
