Little info about myself. Up until July 14 2009 i was an everyday smoker. I quit smoking to try to get a new job. I got hired and submitted a hair test to Psychemedics last Tuesday and received an email from my potential employer that a positive result had been obtained and I am no longer considered for employment. I called Psychemedics and asked them what they found and they wouldn't divulge that info...neither would my potential employer. I asked if it was for a prescription drug(Lortab) i took a month ago for pain..they said maybe.

My question is this...Will prescription drugs(Lortab) make you fail a drug test? I thought I read on this forum that it will not. I also used Pure Detox by Abba for my hair just as a precaution. it contains baking soda and molasses. It was recommended by my hair stylist who is also a pothead.

I'm just wondering if I should even go through with going to my doc and getting clearance for the meds. Could there be a small trace of marijuana still there? Please any info is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

Brother 10 min. ago I was just informed That I had failed a 5 panel (FOR MJ.) through Psychemedics also! Everything was neg. with the exeption of MJ (my ex supervisor informed me). I have not puffed one hit since July 29 2009 I have it logged, I also was a everyday heavey smoker. A sample was tested through my employer (they use Psychemedics) Hair was cut on November 15, 2009. That's 127 days Clean! I hope you get some feedback to you question, because this has also got me tripped out, and I need the same info! Good luck!

Yes Lortabs will show up positive for opiates. I highly doubt you tested pos. for MJ. Good luck

Did not smoke any for over 4 months. Used a hair treatment recommended by a hairstylist just to be sure.

I do live with a habitual smoker. Is it possible I tested positive for second hand smoke. I don't stay in the room next to her while she smokes but I can smell it thru the house!


Does Psychemedics usually ask if you have a prescription for any meds that you have been taking if you test positive?

Just really bummed!! I really needed that job!!

From my understanding, Psychemedics contacts failed canidates to ask if they were on any prescriptions, before sending a positive test result to the employer. Maybe not?

Yeah...they never contacted me. I can't believe they wouldn't tell me why I tested positive. I think that if it's a medical test concerning a sample of my body..(hair, urine, blood) I think Psychemedics should be required by law to let me know what they found.

Yeah I called them and they would not help me. They told me to call HR of the employer who submitted me for the test.
