| I would imagine the quantity smoked would have an impact on the ability to detect in a hair test correct? Lets say...5 months ago (just to stay out of the 90 day magic window) was your last day of smoking. And your smoking was a year or so of pretty heavy every day smoking. But then your off for 5 months - cold turkey Does the amount smoked blow away the 90 day window rule? I.e. if you smoked a bunch, would it make it more detectable, even past 90 days? I guess this all works on how the hair grows...I guess thats what I don't understand. Does it work in that once you stop - like a couple days later or so, your hair starts growing clean? Regardless of the amount you took in before that cut-off date? |

| Does it work in that once you stop - like a couple days later or so, your hair starts growing clean? Regardless of the amount you took in before that cut-off date? That is a question that I have not seen a definitive answer to. IMO, the hair will continue to grow dirty, with THC metabolites, until your overall metabolite level (urine) falls below the 50ng/ml testing level. Others argue that the hair folical only picks up metabolites while they are active, in other words while your are using, and does not absorb the inactive THCA metabolites that are released as fat cells burn. Anyone that can show evedance one way or the other, please do. N2

| So...would this work then. Say you stop...and you can pass a urine test 31 days after you stopped - are you thinking that at that point - your hair is growing clean? My situation, as posted below in another thread is that I smoked for a good 5 months or so (only time in my life actually - at time I was 29). Then after that 5 month period - I quit, cold turkey. That time period ended 11.5 months ago, so almost a year. Where as everything on the internet and everyone here agrees I'm "home free". I find ANYTHING and EVERYTHING to worry about. This job is so important, I can't even put it into words! I guess I'm worried that, in that 5 month period, my level of intake was enough so that I might still have some left in the hair even after 11.5 months. Most will say he11 no! But, I'll find anything to worry about until I'm established in this job! LOL But, beyond my situation, I think the subject is interesting, and I agree that it hasn't been addressed. This could potentially affect lots of us! |

| One other note to throw in here for discussion... It has been said in many places that THC is quick to leave the bloodstream. Correct? This is why many say the blood test is not much of anything to worry about. With that being said, my understanding is that the hair gets the THC in it from the bloodstream? Correct? If this is true, then would it not be true that the hair would also be "quick" to grow clean? If its not in the bloodstream, it can't go into the hair? |

you would logically want to think that way, but unfortunately, it does not work in that way. Your hair can be positive for much longer than blood, sometimes longer than urine depending on your smoking frequency, hair length, etc.etc. | |

| Everything I've learned so far tells me that the hair picks up the metabolites from the bloodstream. I can't understand how metabolites being excreted by fat cells would have anything to do with your hair. Excreted means leaving the body as waste via the urine. Too many people have quit just long enough, 60 to 90 days, to have just enough clean hair to pass. This would in my opinion eliminate the theory of having dirty hair until your fat cells are clean. Does anyone know of anybody who had been clean for 90 days and only an inch and a half of hair and failed? Hey just my opinion. Great thread here. Thanks |
