Hi everyone, can't seem to find an answer for this anywhere. I had a hair test today. I've smoked pot maybe 5 times in the last 3 months. It's probably been a month since the last time. Will my test come up positive?

C'mon, I know someone has to know. I've looked all through these boards and can't find anything close enough to my situation. Seriously, any input would be greatly appreciated.

did you use any type of interventions to try and beat the test or did you go into the lab with your hair simply cleaned? I know that for some 30 days may not be enough time, but for others it can be. Did you use any methods to try and beat the test? If not, there is still a chance you could test positive, but keep us posted on the results nonetheless.

It is much harder for us Mods to help out on guessing for hair tests since the scientific basis for hair testing has not been well established. According to NORML, testing positive in the hair depends also on what your race is, what kind of hair you have (coarse, fine), what types of shampoos you use, and the like.

Try browsing through erowid.com. They have some interesting info on hair tests. Also check out NORML.com, they have some info on their too.

Thanks for the response. No, I didn't prepare at all. To be honest, I didn't even know there were hair tests until today. 5 times in 3 months is probably shooting a little high too. It just sucks that I might not get this job sinse my uncle works at the same place. It's kinda embarassing. I just want someone to say "There's no way you would retain THC being such an infrequent user," but oh well, we'll see how it goes.

Hi everyone,
I'm in the same boat too. I have a hair test this coming Friday and the last time I smoked was either the end of January/ very early February. I only took a few hits, and prior to that I've smoked maybe 3 or 4 times - in the early fall.

I'm very thin with somewhat course hair, and I'm afraid of failing the test! Do you think I should be worried/ are there any methods I could use (aside from exercising a lot) in the next week to get rid of the metabolites?

From what I've been reading, bleaching/redyeing at least once is very helpful.

I'm in a similar situation...smoked only 3 or 4 times since January, last time being Feb 21. I have very fine hair that grows pretty quickly...my hair was cut down to 1/2 inch on April 5th, and I don't expect to be taking my test for another couple of weeks. I'm hoping I'll be okay due to the haircut almost 50 days after my last smoke, but I'm thinking about doing a bleach/redye closer to the test. Anyone have any thoughts on that?

If that smoking history is accurate, I imagine you'll be fine. With the rate hair grows, your light history was chopped off on April 5. If anything, I'd use some baking soda paste and a strong shampoo (Zydot or Toxin Wash) near the day of the test. Best to err on the side of caution if you're worried.
