Just wanted to share my experience in case it helps anyone. I'm an occasional smoker (once or twice a month) and the last time I used was 4th of July weekend where I took a couple of hits. I had no idea I would get the call back for this job.

Well, found out Wednesday that my hair test would be Thursday afternoon. I did the MacCujo method (felt the tingly sensation in the scalp so maybe I did it right) and then I went to a salon where I got a deep condition and then had my long curly hair flat-ironed straight.

When I got to the hair testing place (American Toxicology) they took four test samples from the back of my head. She then cut each sample down to about an inch and a half and placed it inside a glass vial.

She got close to the root of my hair, but from what I felt, she was about a fingernail's length away from my scalp when she cut the samples. All in all, it took about five minutes. She said I should be getting the results back in the next 48 hours, so I will definitetly post the results when I get them.

I don't know if I'll be told about my test results or not though. In the papers I signed for my job they had some fine print about how the decision not to hire me doesn't have to be specified or something like that, but hopefully if I'm not hired, they'll tell me if it was the test or not.

I was going to wait until I had some news, but wanted to write out my experience while I still remembered how it happened. Good luck to anyone else headed into their test.

they most likely will only inform you on test results if you fail; if you pass and start work, assume the test was a formality and you passed with flying colors.

They called me in this morning, said my results came in and that I am to come in tomorrow morning to fill out more paperwork and to get my start date ready. Thanks to everyone on the board for their advice and support these past two weeks that I've been stressing over this.
