I wanted to add my POSITIVE results story
African American natural female. Have locs (some call them dreadlocks) at 6 year length.
Have smoke daily for passed 8 years.
June 2008 slowed down couple times a weekend, worked out 30 mins 3-4 times a week, drank water, making changes.
Last smoked Sept. 26, 2008 -- scheduled hair test Feb. 11, 2009.
Didn't pass.
I have a friend in HR at the company and she was given me heads up on my matters, but wasn't suppose to. I found out from her my results, I had to call my HR rep to find out. My friend told me they check back 90 days. She thought I would be good.
I do all the research on Psychemedics. How they test for several months and test 1 1/2 inch of the hair, and how the hair grows 1/2 a month. (BIASED , possibly) I was able to loosen my hair after washing it with Folli-Kleen on two separate occasions. I'm thinking my hair has grown out and i haven't been around it or ingested any weed for the past 20 week. And I took a 7 day "permanent" stinger detox over a month ago. (Detoxes are biased too,I feel) Thinking I would be cool.
No one at the company can answer my questions about the testing. I finally got in touch with the nurse who cut about 5 inches of my hair and she gave me the number to the doctor who signs off on the results, or whatever he does. (head guy) Now I am coming up questions to ask him.

What should I ask?
1. How far back do they test?
2. Do you consider hair from African Americans?
I will just have to come up with something.
Hair testing is not right, from a African American stand point.
It's keeping me from started my financial life and started a family. I want a career, not just a job.
I don't smoke anymore. When will my time come?

Before taking the test, they said I could appeal it and pay for the retest of the same sample. But I'm getting different answers from different people. I'm so frustrated.

I passed the test the old fashioned way. I cleaned up for 67 days and cut my hair short. I'm now gainfully employed, no longer looking for work in a crappy job market, so far beyond stoked, and comfortably stoned.

The important stuff:

- Daily Smoker about 75% of the last 5 years at least
- 6' 240 lbs., muscular and fat (20% body fat), moderate exercise
- 3/4" head hair, dark brown, Caucasian
- Smoked an 1/8 between Nov 30 - Dec 7 (very high grade)
- Psychmedics test Feb 12
- 67 days clean, 57 days clean growth


Further Details:

33 yo, regular smoker from the time I was 18, and I've been a daily smoker for most of the last 5 years. I'm muscular and fat, moderately active.

Bought an 1/8 of some really nice purple shtuff on Nov 30, and I finished it on Dec 7.

I keep my hair very short - about 1/2" - 1". The day of the test, I cut it down to 3/4". According to average growth rates, that means that I had 45 days worth of hair on my head at 67 days clean and with 57 days of clean growth.

Not saying it will work for everyone. The testing center may not take hair so short, but from what I read, as long as it was over 1/2", they would take it. And you can always trim your body hair even shorter so it would be pointless for them to take a body sample.

I had been a fairly heavy smoker for several years, almost daily, usually in the evenings. For the last 10 months, I have been on and off due to a job search. Last smoked January 3, which was the end of Christmas vacation. During the week prior, I had smoked every day, several times a day. Found a job I was interested in so I quit, figuring I would clean up for a urine test. Got called for an interview set for February 16 and at that time found out that I would get a hair test if I got the offer. To be safe, I ordered Toxin Wash and used their instructions to the letter the day prior to and the day of the interview. I got my hair cut to about 1 inch and shaved from the waist down. I used the TW on my head and armpits. Wasn't sure if they would make an immediate offer and I would have to take a test then or what would happen. As it turned out, they did offer me the job several weeks later and I had the test on March 12, which was 67 days of being clean. The night prior and morning of the test, I did the Toxin Wash treatment. This was following a week of using the old recipe of Aloe Rid twice daily. Got the results March 20th and I passed.
