Very bumed but I had a better job offer anyway than the one that hair tested me. Here is my story.
5'6" 150 lbs. 50 yrs. old. I share a bowl of some premium stuff with my wife everyday before we go to bed(for many years). I have passed many urin tests but this was my first hair test. I had 18 days notice before the test. I stopped immediatly. I went on line and bought Zydot. I thought this would do the trick until I stumbled on this web site. I started the mac method about 10 days before the test but was very confused. White vinigar or apple cider vinigar? Clean & clear? there are only about 20 C & C products. I bought the instringent. Three days before the test I got the better job offer. My scalp and ears were burned from the chemicals. I said screw anymore mac treatments. I did the Zydot the day of the test. I got the bad news a week later. The doctor that called explained they did a double slit method. They found over the limit THC.
I think it has a lot to do with how accuratly they test. Also, I probably did not do enough to try to pass. Anyway, I got a better job that does not test at all unless they suspect you are influenced. Best of luck to anyone who gets hair tested.

Great handle old man. I suspect we have been to some of same shows back in the day(frost, greek, eel river, red rocks, manor downs...).

I'm really sorry you did not pass. The mac method is not the best for heavy users with little clean time.

Bleach and redye or a relaxer would have been best for you.

Well, I think I made it. Tomorrow (monday, May 18) will mark the 14th day from my test. No news is good news I suppose. I was tested on May 5th, the same day I went through orientation, and since then I've even recieved my first pay check. Not sure how long it generally takes to get results (psychemedics did the testing by the way), but I would assume it was less than 2 weeks. The PDT-90 says 6-12 days, but I couldn't find anything else online about it.

In response to my last post, I got curious as to whether or not I was in the clear.

I gave psychemedics a call and learned that after they recieve the sample, results are disclosed in one business day unless the test is positive. In that case, they perform their mass spectrum analysis to confirm it and results are disclosed in 6 - 10 business days. The psychemedics website also informed me that for pre employment drug screens, hair samples are given overnight delivery.

SO... today, May 19th, marks the 10th business day since they should have recieved my hair sample. I think that puts me in the clear sinse I wasn't fired today (knock on wood). I PASSED!!!!

I passed the dreaded hair test!! The whole thing freaked me out so much that I think I'm done with the herbal treatment.

Here are my details:
5'3" 115-120 Lbs.
Moderately fast metabolism
Over the past year, I've smoked approximately every 4-6 weeks. Since January, I believe I have smoked 3 times, with the last time being in early to mid February. No hair treatments. Hair test was performed on May 12th.

I did all I could....three bleach/redye and a relaxer, with lots of macs in between, used baking soda and washed with swimmer's shampoo daily, Zydot, toxin wash, and a whole lot of others, but no luck

I failed. Just heard today.

I think I did everything I heard on here besides the bleach/redye or using the Zydot product.

I found out about my test the thursday before my test (the following tuesday). Each night I maccujod, used the T/sal shampoo, and even freaking shaved my whole body. The day before, I did the method someone posted, involving clorox bleach, hydrogen peroxide, and shampoo or something. The day of, I used the Omni shampoo. I was even trying to use heat to destroy my hair, like a hair dryer, I'd lay with a light on my hair, and I even used a straightener one time.

My hairs pretty thin, dark, and about 2" on top, about .5" on the sides. I feel bad because I MAY have focussed my treatments a TINY bit on the top, thinking that the sides were too short, and they ended up taking the short hair from the back. It wasn't a follicle test I guess because they just cut some and didn't take the roots. I smoked the wednesday before the test (before I knew) and smoked primarily on weekends for the last few years, but pretty heavily those days. I tried to detox myself when I found out about the test, so that my blood wasn't putting more thc traces in the newer hair, by drinking a ton of water, cranberry juice, and going in the sauna, but it didn't matter since they didn't take the whole hairs.

I guess looking back I would have done what people are doing with the bleach/redye of the armpit hair. Just sucks that places do this hair test. I know the piss test is easily beaten, but I could have quit smoking 80 days before my test and failed it. I was called by the testing company and I tried to say that there must have been a mistake, suggesting maybe I took something that produced a false positive, and he insisted that they do a confirmation test that's very accurate. Unfortunately, I started work two days ago (i actually thought I passed....), and now that I had been contacted, they are contacting my work. It sucks because they had been trying to contact me, apparently, for a few days, just I was ignoring the strange number, and had I never picked up, I wonder what would have happened. They said that now that I have been notified, they are just simply sending a "Fail" to my company, and any other details I wanna disclose to them is up to me. I think that's unfortunate, since me being just a co-op and already going through training, maybe they'd overlook weed. But for all they know, I could be a crack head or a heroin junkie. Not looking forward to tomorrow, seeing how I probably wont be contacted before I arrive, so it may be an embarassing face to face firing, if that's what they're going to do. I guess wish me luck, hope people can learn from my experience.

I do want to branch a new discussion from this however. This site has a results thread with 92 pages of posts. However, to this day we still don't know what exactly you need to do to pass this test. Some people pass, others fail. Even when people report what they did, there's a few different home remedies, TONS of prodcuts to pass hair tests they could have used, variables involving hair thickness, hair length, last time smoked, how often they smoked, and so on. It seems like this results thread is getting us nowhere, because people aren't just doing one method, so it could be ANYTHING that caused someone to pass or fail. I just really hope, sometime soon, there's people who take the time to really conduct a study, controlling all these variables, and finding out what exactly you have to do to pass this test. Let me know what you think.

Found out about the upcoming test, and had 3 1/2 weeks notice. I used TSal as my daily shampoo, and I used the Mac method 5 times (exactly as outlined in the original thread). I then cut my hair up to chin length- it was pretty fried.

Then a couple of weeks ago I bleached my hair WHITE at the hairdresser, and had it dyed dark blonde. I then bleached it again a couple of days later, but just a shade or two. By this time my hair is extremely dry and brittle- but YES IT IS WORTH IT. On the morning of the test I used the Zydot treatment and drove to the test. The took a big chunk from the crown of my head.

I spent weeks searching this and other sites, looking for the perfect answer. Unfortunately there isn't one. All I can tell you from my experience is the more you do to increase your chances the better you will feel about it. I took my test on Thursday of last week, and I have been going crazy waiting for the dreaded call. I didn't hear back, so finally broke down and emailed HR this morning asking if everything was in. They said it was...so I'm pretty sure I'm in the clear! Good luck to everyone.....

Hey Whats up Everyone, I am 5"11 wght 160, African American Male. I quit smoking bud in 2007 on New Years day but Smoked again in January 2008, I continued to blaze 3-4 times a week until May 2nd . I got a phone call from a friend saying that he is in good with a hotel director and could get me a great tip job were I would make some realy good money. I immediatly quit smoking and I am now waiting for an opening to take the possition, I was told that it could take 2-3 months for the possition to open due to the fact that there is a current hiring freeze with the company but i know they do hair testing. My problem is I have very little hair on my head and it seems like the growth of my body hair is stunted. I may have 90 days clean until my test date but reading post in this forum and it seems that all african american males fail the test. it seems are hair retain the toxins for a longer period of time. I bought the Nexxus with aloe rid and wash with it everyday. I am thinking of growing my head hair out to make sure they pull the hair from my scalp. I am extremely nervous about this test and I was curious to know if anyone had any suggestions on what I can do between now and then too insure that I will pass this hair test. any help will be greatly appreciated

Well... tentatively it looks like I have passed! I am going to stay clear for at least another week to be safe, and call up HR on Monday to make sure that everything went smoothly. I won't mention the test specifically, will ask if there is anything else I need to do.

I took the test on Friday, it came with a return pouch labeled overnight delivery. Monday being a holiday, so Tues thru Friday is 3 days. I took the sample with Quest Diangostics, and spoke with the HR rep about another issue on Friday, and she didn't mention the test.

According to the Quest website, it states the following:
"The laboratory receives the samples via overnight courier and US Mail. Preparation of the sample for testing is performed the day the samples arrive and the initial test is completed overnight. Negative results are reported within 24 hours of receipt. Positive results are confirmed, reviewed, and reported within 48-72 hours of receipt. "

Given an overnight sample on Tuesday, that leaves Wed thru Fri which is 72 hours. Woohoooooo!!!!

Thanks so much to Jerry and Sec and this forum, I was sweating bullets for a bit there. For a while I was questioning if I did enough or too much, but it's all worth it now.

Full technique was in the other thread, but basically my methods were as follows:
* Found out I had a hair test. Flipped the f*ck out. Fortunately the week before I found this out I was sick and hadn't smoked anything. Delayed, delayed, delayed, since nobody said anything delayed as long as I thought was possible.
* Purchased the following over the course of treatment: 2x Zydot hair cleanser. 1x box of baking soda, 2x bottles of white vinegar, 1x bottle of swimmers' shampoo, 1x bottle of psoriasis treatment (3% s. acid), 1x bottle of foaming clean & clear w/ (2 % s. acid), 1x bottle of liquid tide non-dye non-perfume, 2x hair bleaching kits, 3x hair dye kits.
* Background: Heavy male, caucasian, 280 lbs 6'1 w/dark brown hair, slow metabolism. Hair is medium thickness. Daily smoker of about a half a bowl of good stuff. Stayed clear the week before I found I would have to take a test on a stroke of luck, strayed once by cooking w/ weed but I don't think I did it right because I didn't catch a buzz, so it probably passed through my system.
* Stayed clear for the next 3 weeks before the test, so total clean time was 4 weeks. Day of the test I got a haircut, hair was approx. 1 1/2 to 2 inches in length on top with quarter inch on side.
* First week I found out I was out of town so couldn't do anything except freak out.
* second weekend spent up all night studying this site and many others, found out about Zydot and it's low rate of success. Heard about Macujo technique on another site, traced it back to here.
* Late second weekend went out and bought most of the stuff listed above. Ready about the s. acid being essential, was looking for cleansing shampoo at the local drug store when I stumbled upon the psoriasis shampoo, saw that it had 3% s. acid and all kinds of other stuff, so picked i up. Stumbled upon the swimmer's shampoo the next week after that.
* Second week started off the treatment. At first was pouring the vinegar over my head which was a pain in the ass. Found a cheap spray bottle, put the vinegar in that instead. Let vinegar soak on head for 15 minutes, followed up with clean & clear foaming for another 15 minutes(the foaming made it much much easier to thoroughly soak my hair.) Rinsed it out with the tide. Managed to do this 4 times the first week.
* Wasn't satisfied yet on my chances after reading through the majority of the results thread. Jerry recommended bleach and redye, even though I didn't think of myself as a heavy smoker (just a half a bowl a night for maybe 4 nights a week or so, compared with most of my friends that was considered light LOL). So I went and bought the bleach kit, did that the 3rd weekend. Left the bleach ingredients in my hair the first time for about 45 minutes after washing my hair. Rinsed it out with the tide detergent. Put in the dye, and it stung like a motha****er. My head felt like the surface of the sun, I seriously thought I had destroyed my scalp. Drying my hair, it felt like sandpaper against the towel. I literally could not comb it without conditioner.
* 3rd week, did macujo about 3 more times. Hair was starting to fade, did another bleach, but this time left it in for an entire hour. Had the swimmers shampoo at this point, so this time rinsed out the bleach with swimmers' shampoo. Put in the hair dye, this time left it in for a full 40 minutes since last time the color didn't hold. Performed the Zydot treatment in the middle of the whole thing. Started with shampoo before first bleach, second shampoo treatment and cleansing after bleach was done, and then applied Zydot conditioner after the dye. Blowdried my hair in between bleaching and dying. My hair looked like straw, like it was going to break.
* Was still too nervous, so put it off some more. 3rd weekend, hair was fading rapidly. Had been washing every day that week with swimmers shampoo first, psoriasis shampoo second, and then following up with super strong conditioner, then blowdrying.
* 4th week - decided this was week to take the test. Did macujo another two times during the week, conditioned the double wash cycle listed above. Day before the test, macujo again. Day of the test, started off with double wash (swimmers, then psoriasis), then washed with tide. Performed a macujo. Then did the baking soda paste. Rinsed out the baking soda paste with tide. Blow dried. Then performed the Zydot treatment, which ended up taking another half hour. Towel dried after each stage of Zydot. Scalp was totally red and irritated. My scalp was starting to scab up big time. Zydot completed about a half hour before the test, drove to the test side with car window open to dry off hair naturally after towel drying.

Took the test - she clipped from the back crown of head, where hair was very short, 1 1/2 inches. Looked at the hair sample she took, it looked multi-colored. Brown with streaks of blonde.

After that played the waiting game. Sat besides my phone all day on Tuesday waiting for it to ring. Anxiously awaited word from HR about results.... nothing.

Once again, big thanks to Sec, Jerry and the site for helping my out. Without this site I would have tested positive for certain.
