Ok, I dont want to whip a dead dog, I have read about the detection times for a saliva test. But how can second hand smoke affect it? I know that it wont affect a urine test, But I have a swab test coming up the middle of this week. Ive been clean since friday the 11TH, but the guys I work with will probably fire up a joint on the way to the jobsite monday. Should I tell them to hold off untill after my test, or am i just being paranoid? I really want this new job, its my ticket out of the oilfield and backbreaking labor!

Second hand smoke, unless directly inhaled won't affect your saliva. If you stay away from toking for 48 hrs you pass. Clean your mouth good and take some sstrong mints before the test. When you put the swap in your mouth you will be asked to brush your theeth, that's why its important to brush well, all over so that a deposit don't stick on the swap. They will ask you if you took any mints, say no.

Thanks for the info, i have asked the guys i work with not to smoke, and they were cool with it. Ive been clean since last saturday AM, test is this wensday at 1100 am, so i should be good!

You'll pass the test, but you're doing the right thing and you have good friends for understanding your situation. Please let us know if you pass or not through this thread you started.

Unfortunatly, we had a gas pipeline leak at my present job, so I had to "put off" the test. New employer said no problem, i'm hoping to make it friday for the test. Ill post the results afterwards, i dont think there will be any problems. Thanks to every one out there for all the info!!

well, after a week and a half being completely clean, i broke down and managed to gather a small bowlfull out of my box. smoked it friday night. shouldn't have i know, see what happens when you go out drinking with friends!. my test is definately monday am, so being over 48 hrs and such a small amount in that long a time being clean, i still feel fairly confident,yet scared at the same time. results will follow later today. thanks for all the info and wish me luck!

I figured that once the test was done id feel better about it, but now im more worried than before. The test is shipped out and negative results come back in 24 hrs. It was the Intercept swab, just put it between cheek and gum for 2 minutes. Any one else used this type of test? I figure that i was clean for about 60 hrs,and i brushed my teeth three times this morning and used a lot of listerine.just wondering what my chances are of being positive, it will be a very stressfull day!

well i must have passed, its been 3 days now and no word, other than a call to see if i could work part of the weekend my first day there. the new boss said no news is good news and not to sweat it!!
