Well I passed my test. Thanks for the awesome thread grillmeats. What I did:

80 hours no smoking
followed good dental hygiene (scope, little flossing, brushed 2x a day)
had a few mints

I passed. No more probation! Thanks guys. I did the poll too.

I went in today for my first day of work, and I didn't think this company tested because there is no mention of it anywhere on the employment section of their website, so I figured I was in the clear...

Anyways I show up today and the HR lady is there with two testing kits. At the time I wasn't sure what type of test they were. I was somewhat worried at this point as I had just smoked a few bowls the night before with my roommate. We usually share about 3-4 bowls of high-quality herb each evening. She asks who wants to go first, and both of us shrug our shoulders, and she asks the other guy to go first (lucky me!!!). I am waiting in the lobby and I notice the other guy with something sticking out of his mouth, so I figured it was a saliva test. Seeing this I immediately went to the restroom and rinsed out my mouth, and then wiped the inside dry with paper towels.

She calls me in for the test at noon, almost exactly 12 hours after I had last smoked. I swab the stick around my mouth for three minutes, being careful to not get too much saliva on the stick. At the end of three minutes I must not have had enough saliva on the stick because she wasn't able to get a reading. She said she would have to test me another day.

So, after this test I came home at lunch and found grillmeats thread. Next time I take the test I am sure the HR lady will make sure the stick is fully saturated, so I am abstaining from smoking in the meantime.

A couple questions:

-- Using your method, is it safe to saturate the testing stick fully?
-- Should I still try to drink a lot of water in the days before the test, or will that cause my mouth to be too wet at testing time?

Yes, by not smoking you will pass, water would only help if it were urine they wanted

I don't want to get anyone's hopes up or anything, but heres my story; When I started my job I was given the oral swab test. I had just smoked the previous night, and the test took place around 1pm. I'm pretty bad with brushing my teeth at times... heh, so I'm not to sure on that. Though I was eatting a peppermint (offered by the secertary, no less). I also drank a few glasses of water right before the test. (Or I could have chosen coffee, shes just so sweet...). Passed across the board, though I was only worried about one. I have heard in the past that as long as you refrain from smoking for at least 5 hrs, you'd come out clean on that test, but thats second hand info, so...

I PASSED!!! I was smoke free for 100 hours, gargled, brushed and flossed like a crazy woman for the 4 days before the test. I ate ALTOIDS like they were my new favorite food and for a safegaurd I bought the Spit N Kleen mouthwash. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! GRILLMEATS YOU ARE THE BEST!!!

i passed!!!! 96 hours later. followed grillmeats advice.

brushed and gargled 3 times that day. ate mints on the way there.

i was asked about mint or gum chewing, but he only asked if i had one within the past ten minutes.

I had a saliva test for Lowe's and passed.

Heres he details...

Was clean for a month (probation was ending), smoked a blunt and a bowl of good nugs at midnight on Wed night/ Thurs morning... the test was Friday at around 10 AM... that gave me around 34 hours after smoking.. i wasn't worried untill i found this thread and i started geeking out about some crazy estimates of 48-72 hours... all other info on the web said 1- 24 hours and most said 14...
so anyway, the morning of the test i brushed my teeth real well, drank a lot of water, gargled STRAIGHT hydrogen peroxide (didn't know it was supposed to be half and half with water), and went to the store and bought altoids... i chowed down at least 10 altoids on the way to lowe's, letting them dissolve and chewing them, and makign sure to get the corners of my mouth,
in the lowe's parking lot i gargled wiht more peroxide, more mints, more water, more mints, etc. I went into the st\ore with a few mints in my mouth and walked back to the Human Resources lady's office and waited outside till i finished them, then went in, took the LabOne Intercept test, and 3 minutes later it was done.
I tried to keep the pad as dry as i could, i didn't rub it back and forth in my mouth much to "activate it" like she told me to... also when she wasnt watching i shifted it so i was holding it b/t me molars and not my cheek and gum. So she said shed try to get it sent out that day and id hear back Mon or Tues...
i was still scared shitless id fail, and came home and did more research, i found a link in this forum somewhere to some pdf's from labOne. They were all about oral fluid testing studies... the vast majority of those tested were clean in 24 hours, VERY few tested positive much longer after that. Also, they advertise a 24 hour turnaround on negative results and 72 horus for confirmed positive. So, if you get a saliva test and they are mailing it overnight, and it takes more than 1 or 2 biz days to hear back, thisi may be a sign.
So Monday rolled around and I got my call at about 5 pm saying I got the job.
Thanks grillmeats for the directions, idk whether id have been positive without them or not, but it sure couldnt have hurt.

Also, if this has not been said already, just an FYI, LabOne and Quest are the same company now.

I unexpectedly got called up for an interview at a wholesale club store. I believe that I had smoked the afternoon before and when I went for the interview, filled the paperwork out then I was told that I was to recieve a drug test (I didn't know if they did). I had been waiting an hour for my interview, because of their mistake, as I told them I had two classes at 10 in the morning, the exact time they wanted to drug test. I assured them that I would return after my classes were over to take the drug test and finish the interview process. I had about a 4 hour time period to do something, so I did not even have time to check for information anywhere. I skipped class to focus on my problem. I figured that it would be a urine test, so I went to the GNC type store and bought a detox drink. I was drinking water prior to this, and then I followed the instructions on the bottle and what not. At around 3pm, I returned for my drug test and end of my interview.

How paranoid I became when I realized, it was going to be a saliva test. I had to stick this giant half toothbrush, half cotton swab in my mouth and between my cheeks for about 2-4 minutes. To my relief, I was told that I passed, no problems...here's a job. I did not use mints, I did not brush in excess, not because they aren't good precautions, but because I was expecting a completely different test. In my opinion, the drink will help you, but then again, these tests looked like they came from the store up the street. Maybe they were weak? Just sharing some personal experience.

I passed my test, they called me on monday. I go in for training at 11:00PST today!
