Until I stumbled onto this website I felt pretty alone in this place, I am a 26 year old avid pothead, raised by another avid pothead. To me that smell is a welcoming as dinner cooking, but has always been a hush-hush subject in this back-wood town... My point is I joined the circle when I was about 13 and it is as common as 3-6 long doobies a day, if not more. It never really was in issue except with the law,of course, I prefer pot to any prescription meds. Well about a month ago I found out I was pregnant, and I have plenty of friends that have smoked during pregnancy. Nothing seems to be wrong with any of the kids but I still want to do things right. It has been a struggle, but I have left it alone, for the most part. My husband obviously still smokes, although he has cut back to about a doob a day, and every once in awhile I will light his joint for him. I do not hold in the smoke hardly at all, but these are only in situations when something has gotten me so upset I cannot calm myself down. I am in debate with myself b/c I do not think the pot is as harmful to my pregnancy as the stress is. While I realize this sounds like some kind of cop-out, I have only smoked 3 hits at a time and no more than once a week. I have been to the ob already & was honest in my paperwork that I HAD used pot, thankfully he did not do my labwork at that time. He did not even mention the pot, only questioned me about cig. use (I quit immediately) I know when I return on the 21st he will be conducting lab work so I am worried that he will find pot in my system... What are my chances of getting a pos. result on a drug test(urine) if I do not smoke from here on out. I really want to right in this situation, but I feel I should have left the pot out of my paperwork & it might not have even been an issue. I am in Texas & I do not know the regulations for this sort of thing, of course I have gotten all kinds of crazy advice from fellows around here... Anybody, Everybody, HELP PLEASE, what should I do?

Well I don't know too much about drug tests during pregnancies. How long has it been since you last smoked? You say you are not smoking much, so that is a plus. You could always get a home drug test and test yourself before your next apointment. I wouldn't recoment dillution or substitution because I am sure they will need some more info from your urine than if you have been smoking pot or not. I had a friend who was pregnant, and she told her doctor that she had smoked pot, she was real nervous as I am sure you are now. The doctor told her that it was safer for the baby that she took a hit of marijuana that it would have been if she had had a drink or smoked a cigarette. I am sure your child will come out fine, hers did. This is in Texas also, so I would not see any real conserns, as she told her doctor that she had smoked alittle while pregnant. You can't change what you did, and I am sure there will be no consiquences. I will see if I can get ahold of my friend to see if the doctor told her anything more than that, or if they do drugtests. I do remember her saying that pot was not as dangerous to an unborn child as alcohol or tobacco. In my opinion (not that I'm a doctor or anything) I would still quit smoking until your child is born. Nine months really isn't that long when you think about it in the larger scale. Good luck to you and I wish you and your family the best. ![]()

There are some other threads in the drug testing forums regarding pregnancy and pot. They say it is not harmful to the child. I see you are concerned about what the doc will say. Rightfully so. I think it really depends on the doctor on how open minded he is. Every doctor is different and has different views on different issues. That's why they call themselves practicing medicine. They are always experimenting. As for any methods you can use to pass a test, you are pretty limited. Actually I don't know of any, since I am thinking you are concerned about a blood test. The only thing you can rest assure on is that THC is only detected in your blood for up to 72 hours for chronic users from what I understand. So, just don't smoke for at least 72 hours before a doctors visit. I wish you luck and I hope you have a beautiful and healthy baby. 29 ![]()
