I have to take a sailva test for work soon and talked to a friend who took one. She said she quit for an entire week and still failed the test!! I will have quit for 5 days when I take my test and I have cut down recently to smoking about twice a day(good stuff though). I will do all of the reccomended things for passing the test of course and I have ordered the Swish N Kleen mouthwash with a home drug test so I can test myself after using the mouthwash. But I am REALLY nervous since my friend failed after quitting for a week. She said had to take it three times b/c she was doing her best to not let the collector get to moist in her mouth, would this have contributed to her failing the test? Also my potential employer mentioned that it takes a day or two to get the results, I take this to mean they send the sample out to a lab- will they be able to detect the mouthwash in the lab? What if the immediate results are negative, could the lab still extract positive results?

I find it hard to believe you friend failed after a week clean. Pot does cause short term memory lose. You have quit for 5 days, so don't smoke now until you get your results. You should be fine. To be safe follow Grillmeats formula under the Saliva Test Result and you'll be alright. Meats will probably be by to boost your confidence also.

That's really weird, and the first time I've heard of something like that. Even the heaviest smoker should pass after 72 hours of abstinence.

In fact, this is one of the first times I've heard of *anybody* failing a saliva test on these boards. Are you sure your friend failed a saliva test, and not a urine / hair test?

Well, color me purple. I thought it was damn near impossible to fail a saliva test. All you have to do is quit for a few days and brush your teeth!

Thanks for the support guys!! Good point about it causing memory loss. I wondered myself if she REALLY quit for a whole week, I'm thinking she slipped up and must have smoked. I will let you know when I get the results and I will be sure to complete the poll about saliva testing!

I say she smoked and said that she didn't. I can't beleive that. I tested myself and passed w/o brushing at 14 hours I am not promoting this window. That's me. I can tell you this, The Mints really help, use them.

Well, tomorrow is test day! Last time I smoked was Tuesday-I'm going nuts!! Actually it was only the first couple of days that were hard. I've been brushing, flossing and gargling like a mad woman. I even got a new toothbrush!! Don't know that I needed to do that, but I figured what the hell, can't hurt. Oh, and I actually called one of the manufactors(spelling?) and questioned them about the saliva tests they have(said it I suspected my daughter of using), he said if you haven't smoked in 7-10 days it probably wouldn't detect THC metabolites, and that vigorous brushing can alter the test. He recommended if I saliva test my daughter I should do it either right away in the AM before she brushes or right after she gets home from being with friends. I never doubted your advice grillmeats, I just wanted to hear what the manufactors had to say. Thanks for all the advice, I am using EVERY bit of it.

Meats should be proud of you. I remember him saying "longer is better" You should pass with flying colors.
