I used to smoke pot frequently 5-10 years ago, but until about a month ago I hadn't tried it in 3 or 4 years. But I was out with some old friends got a little drunk and took 2 or 3 small hits from a pipe. I really didnt get very stoned but ingested enough to feel some effect.

The next day I was really kicking myself because I'm between jobs and in my line of work (legal/government) a pre-employment drug screen is a given. It may be hair or urine or both.

Im 6'3" tall and overweight (250lbs) - I'm slowly losing weight now through diet, exercise and over the counter diet pills. Since this was a month ago, a small one time exposure, and the test could be 1 to 4 weeks away, I'm not too worried about urinanalysis (I am overwieght but right now my metabolism is pretty fast)- The hair thing does have me scared becasue I heard it is extremely sensitive back 90 days or more. If I miss out on something due to a failed drug test it would be a complete disaster. And frankly a real pisser in light of the fact that I don't smoke anymore.

I'd like to solicit some informed opinions about a few things: First, am I correct in my assumption that urine analysis should not be a problem 5 or more weeks out? Does anyone know whether or not the hair test would be sensitive enough to detect this? I have very fine light colored hair which I keep short and conservative. Has anyone heard any horror stories about someone like me failing either test? I purchased an astringent shampoo by Nexxus (aloe rid) and have been applying it heavily and daily. Is a more extreme cleansing approach warranted? I'm considering salycic acid from acne medication used in connection with the astringent shampoo. Im open to other suggestions but the mac-a-whoever approach seems extreme and not sound. Thanks in advance for your help. take care.

You have nothing to worry about. You will pass either test.

The hair test you probably would have passed even if you hadn't been applying Aloe Rid, because of your very light use. There is no need to take more extreme measures.

The macujo method is extreme and some people need extreme measures to pass. You don't need it.

I think you're right, but thank you for reassuring me. Becuase I'm paranoid I've stepped up the regimen somewhat. I purchased a neutrogena product called T-Sal. The active ingredient is Salicylic acid (the same chemical in the acne astringent used in the Macujo method). I've been applying this daily and allowing it to soak in for several minutes before using the aloe rid. I also bought the Paul Mitchell 3 and will begin incorpoating that as well. I wash the heck out of my hair 3 times a day. I stopped using conditioner entirely b/c it seems that it should be easier to cleanse inside slightly damaged hair.

I doubt that all this is necessary but I have to wash my hair anyway so no big deal. And I'd hate to fail a test and know that I could have done more to change the result. I figure I'll keep it up for another week or two then back to normal. Whatever benefit these products have should have worked by then.

If it makes you feel better, by all means do it. Like you say you have to wash your hair anyway.
