I posted this in the hair test results section as well, but thought I should post it on a new thread to get more exposuer...

This is my first post, but I've been reading for a week or so. I have my hair test soon, and I, like everyone else, am freaking a bit. I've been using the mac method daily for about a week now... but I have my doubts about it. However, I cannot recall a single person who said they got a perm and still failed. Therefore, I am highly considering perming.... but before I do I have a question --

What will a perm do to my hair? I'm male with short (about 1.5 - 2 in long... big shock huh) straight hair. Obviously I wouldn't put in curlers, I would just comb it straight... but I just want to know if it's gonna make my hair stiff, brittle, rough, sleek, ect. So anyone who has some insight on this, please let me know, because I want to do it asap if it isn't going to f up my hair.

Just for the record... I read about the whole perm thing, and it sounded pretty scary... but I did it anyway I did the Oglive home perm, and it went pretty smooth. I just put the solution in my hand and worked it in the longer hair on the top of my head -- left that in for 15 min and followed the instructions from there. I then washed for about 10 min with the PM3 (two sets of five min).

Well my hair is still there. It's knda rough, and a bit more frizzy... but nothing a little gel won't fix. It kinda smells bad, but by the time I mac it a couple more times and do the afterburner (which I don't think does anything, but I bought it so I'm gonna use it), I bet it won't smell too bad.

Keep an eye on the hair test results for the next couple weeks and when this nightmare is all over I'll post my bio, cleansing regime, and result. Man I hope this shiat works... cause my scalp is sore.

You should treat all your head hair not just the top. I thought they would take the hair from the top of my head because it was 1 1/2" long and instead they took it from the back that was only 1" long. Lucky for me I treated all my head hair.

It is preferred to take the hair from the CROWN of the head. That means the part of the head that lies on the pillow if you were lying on your back in bed.

Why do they prefer to take it from the crown? Does it grow slower there or something?

It isn't because of the grow rate. I believe it has to do with cosmetics. They lift the hair up and take the sample from the layer underneath. It isn't as visible that way. Sometimes that doesn't work either. There was a notch across the back of my head. If you imagine a line from center of ear to center of ear across the back of your head. That is where my sample was taken from.

If you do decide to do a perm, should you do it a day or two before, or would it matter if u did it a week before? n e one got a clue?

It has been done a week before and the day before. I don't know if it matters,but I think I would do it a day or two before.
