| Just wondering if there is anything different to know about for a dept. of transportation required hair test from hair test given to any other profession. I have seen it mentioned in some posts where someone has described the test they are taking as a non dot test, so it just got me thinking a little if there was a difference in cut off levels or procedure or anything? Thanks |

| The dot has started using hair tests and they are now required for most dot regulated preemployment drug screens. I found a link explaining it a little. http://www.stevenspublishing.com/Ste...0?OpenDocument I'm assuming it's just a standard test that the dot has approved for it's testing. Does anyone know if the pdt-90 is up to these standards or has been approved for dot testing? |

Even the SP articles paragragh on hair testing begins this way: Quote:
If any alternative testing methods were to be adopted by DOT or other Federal agencys, there would have to be a set of guidelines and protocols that would have to be adhered to by those participating in such programs, as it would be for urine sample collections. The guidelines have to be followed or else the test results are void. Since there are no guidelines implemented, re. hair testing, employers cannot conduct "DOT hair tests". With all this being said, if youre taking a hair test, its not DOT-regulated. Nothing can be regulated without regulations to go by. ![]() | ||

| Thanks for the confirmation. I knew someone would show up and either confirm or correct my answer. I do believe it won't be long before they do adopt hair testing but I could only find urine testing as you said. have a good one. |
