I was a heavy user for 10+ years. I was laid off in Jan of this year. I have been clean since Nov of 05 (I knew the lay offs were coming). I have been shaving down my upper body occasionally since then. I shaved it all off as soon as I layed off. I last trimmed about a month ago.

I got the call today and they told me -oh yeah we will be taking a snip of your hair.

This will be at the offices not a lab. The hair on my head is only a quarter of an inch at best. My arm pit/chest hair is only a half inch at best. I am worried that I am going to look suspicious. I am also that they will take it from my legs (I have never trimmed or shaved them).

Again I have been clean for 6months +. Any suggestions? I really need this job and what really sucks is I was referred by my uncle so there is a lot at stake here. --thanks

Let your hair grow. Even if they take it from your legs, you should have no problems what-so-ever. You have been clean for over 6 months now. There is no test I am aware of that can detect THC use over 6 months in the past.

Let them take from your legs. Tell them your wife/life partner (whoever) is turned off by hair so you trim everywhere, but you drew the line at shaving your legs for her. They will think you have a strange relationship with your wife, but they should take the hair on your legs with no problem.

Good idea..sec3. They might not think it is strange. I bet you have seen stranger situations and explainations.

Had my test yesterday. I thought I would share my experience since I do not think it was the norm.

I got there and was taken into a room and instructed how to fill out the employment application. Then I was ushered to a cubicle with two nurse type looking people. My hair on my head was 3/8inch at best. I had to give them my Id and then she instructed me to turn around. She started taking the sample from my head. I couldn't belive it. Basically from ear to ear she took samples along the back of head. She left my head looking like I was attacked by a woodpecker. She kept saying - I hope this is enough hair. then had to fill out all the verification type stuff for the hair test. I think the lab was called psychmedics or something like that. Then I was directed to a different cube to fill out the employment application. I had to walk around with these bald patches on my head-I felt pretty stupid.

When I got home, my wife cracked up at me. I shaved my head down to 1/8 inch like I normally do every week or two. The bald spots looked worse. So I took it all off. If they call and say there was not enough hair, I feel like telling them they can take the hair from my sack.

This was for a major auto supplier.

Good Luck to everyone. I have enjoyed smoke all my life but I think I am done with it. It is just not worth it anymore. I have a family to support. I was just fortunate to have an excellent job with great pay and no risk of being tested. But those days are over.

That is to bad that they butchered you like that and then said they didn't have enough hair. That is why I tell people don't smoke until after you get the results back.
So are you going to go back? Or did you go back? They will take it off your "sack" if need be. You have been clean since November let them get it from any place they want.

That really makes me nervous! I just recently got hired for Nissan in New York. I have been a heavy smoker for over a year, and prior to that on and off. When It was on it was heavy...and then I'd stop for a while. When I filled out the application it asked if I would concent to a drug test. Of course I had to say yes, or I wouldn't get the job, or at bare minimum a heafty investigation into my life as to why I wouldn't. I am supposed to go in for the first day of training on mon. the 15th. I can explain that I am a medical user, and that my psychologist can confirm that. But I don't have a prescription because New York won't allow medical marijuana. (if it matters...I medicate for severe anxiety attacks). So I am curious what major auto supplier wanted to test you? PS...I have a bottle of detox too...should I take it my first day before I go in, incase I get tested... (cause even if it's a piss test, I'd fail as of now....) Thanks for the help!

I am not sure but I DOUBT the medical marijuana excuse, even if you had a scrip, would fly. At least not in NYS. They are testing for marijuana use and probably really don't care if you use for medical reasons. Think about it, if they don't want weekend smokers for employees, do you think they would want someone who is "medicated" by marijuana. I am NOT sure that is the way it is, but as you say it is illegal for any reason in NYS.

Where is the Nissan plant in NYS? I live in NYS and wasn't aware that there was one. Just curious.

This was for an auto supplier that starts with an -D- and ends with an -I-.


I do not know yet if enough hair was taken. They told me that the drug test would take 3-4 days and the back ground check would take up to 2 weeks. So I guess if I do not hear anything in the next couple days I am OK.

It's not a plant...it's a dealership. And idk...I guess I just mentioned that because I was self justifying, cause I know what the expected response is. IDK...Do you think you could answer any of the question though? Cause it would really help me out! Thanks in advance!
