I've been offered a great job and have to go through a hair test before they officially bring me on. Here's my story...I'm not a regular user at all. Last was one decent sized brownie back on April 3rd (opening day!) and haven't touched the stuff since...that's 80 days. Before April my last hit was waaaay back in 2002, and even that was only once every couple of months. I'm 6'2" 195lbs with a decent metabolism and I think my hair grows really, really fast and thick (usually get about an inch taken off every 5-6 weeks).

Drug test will most likely be next week, but I don't have an appt yet. Just wanted to get some advice and cool down my nerves which are going crazy right now, but after reading some posts here I'm feeling a little better. Thanks to anyone who can offer a bit of advice!!

You're almost at the magical 90 day window, and it was just a one time use anyway. I think you'll be fine.

I wasn't stressing at all about the drug test until this morning when I suddenly remembered the brownie back in April. Needless to say this has been an anxious day searching the internet for more information. I've read through a couple of the stickies here and feel a little better about the ordeal. This anticipation is worse than finals week back in college!

The company gave me a sheet to sign acknowledging that I'd be put through a hair test. It wasn't specific at all, only saying that they could test "several" months into the past. Today hasn't been too much fun...

i'm in the same stress boat as you my friend, but seriously, i think you'll be fine. its been almost a week since i had my hair test and still havent heard a word about the results. i was a mess until yesterday, but after doing the research and reading the posts on this website and stuff, i'm pretty sure i passed or else i would have received the dreaded phone call by now i figure.

heres the best thing to do... first, i wouldnt get too worked up over that one brownie you had. you'll very likely pass without even doing anything, well... unless you ate like a whole tray or loaf of brownie that day!!

so before the test, clean your hair really good with vinegar at least once. vinegar seems to be the key ingredient in breaking down the THC metabolite in hair, so clean your hair with vinegar extra good-like, a few times or more if you can. then you can follow up with the rest of the macujo method. the vinegar followed by clean and clear and tide the morning of the test... i did it to my hair and it was fine, however get a girlfriend or wife or somebody to help you with the tide part of the process if you can, you know, just in case you get some in your eyes and start fumbling around the bathroom and slipping over all the tide detergent thats on the floor and hurting yourself... that would be counterproductive.

passing the test wont mean so much if youre in ER for head trauma, even if you do have extra clean drug-free hair

Hey jerkyterk...yea it was just one brownie, but a decent-sized one at that! I guess I can't quite remember if it had any effect on me (the alcohol was probably winning at that point).

Anyways, I was going to give the macujo method a shot once I finalize the appointment for the test. The timing is a little quirky for me...I do NOT want to give notice that I'm leaving my current job until I get the test results back. Well my new potential employer may not want to wait that long, we'll see though.

So it sounds like you may have some experience with detergent on the bathroom floor, is that so??!! If it is I suppose it was a tough lesson to learn...thanks for passing on the advice!

Hmm...decisions, decisisons. So I called today to make my appt for the test (Monday 7am...and it for sure is Psychemedics) and the nurse said that if I didn't have enough hair on my head then she'd opt for a urine test instead of attacking the "other" body parts with enough hair. I have about one and a half inches at the longest part, it's feasible I could cut most of it off and have the nurse resort to the urine test which I know I'd pass.

I don't think I have anything to worry about anyways, based on how little I had and the fact that it was 80 days ago (84 on Monday), but I can't risk a positive result. No time for the PDT-90 home test. I'll do some prep this weekend and get ready for Monday morning. I'll post my summary and results in the sticky thread.

well thats cool... if theyre willing to do a urine test instead, youre golden dude.

this kinda backs up my theory that the individual person collecting your hair sample can have a huge effect on your results alone.

the fact that psychemedics would even give you the option of doing either urine or hair test is quite a shock to me and should be to a lot of people on this forum.

but i'm happy for you, none the less

The nurse actually works for the company I've been offered a job with. I think Psychemedics only does hair testing, the urine test through my company is done by a different location. Basically my hiring company is saying "we'll do everything possible to get a hair test done, if we can't then we'll just do a urine test instead."

She already asked me how long my hair was and I obliged with the correct length and then flirted on the phone with her for 10 minutes. If I go in on Monday with a bald scalp, she'll know something is up. "I see you shaved your head over the weekend...interesting." Haha...I'm feeling better about this whole thing.
