Ok here it goes...I was a proud smoker about 9 months ago, then one day I just quit( 8 months ago). Memorial Weekend I took 2 small hits off a pipe. Well I have a hair follicle test July 13th and this job is such a great opportunity, I know about the 90 day hair thing, I have been a hair stylist for 20 years. But 2 hits, 45 days ago...What do ya all think?

Breathe easy, SheilaG, most likely you are OK as far as the test goes.. Get some sun, etc but don't go overboard.

First let me say this site is the best. I have read alot about everyone using the malibu 2000. I have been a hairstylist for 20 years and have used malibu many times. When using make sure that you work the product into the hair very well, small sections, use fingertips and rub it in. It is also very important to put some type of bag on your head and apply heat as that is what opens the hairshaft up. And leave on for about 40 minutes rinseing your hair with water as hot as you can stand, cold water closes the follicle back up and the product can be trapped. I will be getting some sun with malibu on my hair today.

Thanks for the tip Malibu 2000, I've wondered what sort of product (other than tide, heat, mechanical, etc) that would open up the hairshaft.

What is this product used for normally, hair coloring?

Well in the hair biz we usually use it before a color to remove impurities in the hair such as hairspray bulid up, clorine, and medications(heart, blood pressure and anethesia build up in the hair and the color or perm solution cannot penetrate. Totally healthy for your hair.

We use Malibu 2000 that is the name of it, I think it can be bought at Sally Beauty Supply if you have one in your area, there are others out there in which I have not used. We always used the Malibu 2000 brand. Cant find it let me know, hairstylist can always get products. And for all those out there using Nexxus Aloe-Rid, Sally's beauty supply sells that now as the company went public.

I had torn-roto cuff shoulder surgery last year and I cannot hold my arm up long enough to cut hair all day...But one thing about the hair business,,, THEY NEVER DO DRUG TESTING!!!!!Maybe thats why I was a hairstylist for so long...LOL

Hair tests look at the inch and a half closest to the scalp, approximately three months of growth, so your last-year smoking won't effect it. One smoking session doesn't put enough THC metabolites into your hair to score a positive on a hair test.
