1. They cut your hair 1.5 inches from the top and it is supposed to go back 3 months. But since it is from the top and not bottom dont they just do the closest 3 months and not anything before that because the new hair with THC in it would be growing from the bottom. So if you have 3 inches of hair it would not test the most reccent 1.5 inches?

2. Does a fast metabolism and low bodyfat make it harder to test positive for hair tests too or is it just pee tests?

3. What exactly is different about labs using head hair or body hair. Why do they need to know?

They check the 1.5 inches of hair closest to your scalp, although they usually leave a little bit between the snip and your scalp so they don't cut you. Top means top of your head, i.e. the crown. Most recent means closest to your scalp.

Short answer: No. Does not make it harder to submit positive hair samples.
Long answer: Maybe. Low body fat means your body can't store as many THC metabolites and fast metabolism means your body clears THC metabolites out of your body fat relatively quickly. Any THC metabolites present in your bloodstream (always present while you are high, and the whole time your metabolism is clearing the metabolites out of your body fat) are deposited by the blood into your hair as it grows. Once deposited in your hair, THC metabolites stay there as a more or less permanent record. So, it's a maybe because the faster THC metabolites are out of your system, the faster you are growing clean hair. BUT, any dirty hair you grow stays dirty until you cut it off. However, there is some evidence that normal environmental factors like UV radiation from sunshine can degrade hair enough such that for hair older than 90 days, the hair tests are no longer reliable.


Body hair is supposed to grow more slowly than head hair. So, if 1.5 inches of head hair represents 90 days of your private life, 1.5 inches of body hair might represent 180 or more days. Presumably the lab would need to know so that, if given a sample of body hair, they don't test further than 90 days into your private life.

Well they shaved my leg hair. So there is no way for them to know or test it right. So will they just have a higher testing tolerance for me or what?

I am not sure if they use a higher cut off or how they do it. I do know that they specify were the sample comes from, so there has to be a difference in how they test it.
Maybe sec3 will see this post and have some info on it.

When they cut head hair, if it is more than 1-1/2 inches, it is packaged in a way that the lab can tell which end is the scalp and and which end is the other end. That way, they test the latest growth.

We document body hair because there is no "scalp end" It is just packaged in a little ball and one end is not differentiated from the other. The lab needs to know this. Not sure why, but they do.
