Hello everyone.

I am about to get a clinical observation job in a physical rehabilitation clinic and they sent a drug and alcohol policy to my advisor for us to look over, and in one of the pages it said basically that they will probably do 2 tests on potential employees. The packet said something about " Gas chromatography or Mass Spectrometry" and I have NO idea what that is, but I looked it up and I'm still drawing a blank. I need to know what it is, and what I can do to pass it! If any of you have any information or advice, please let me know!

GC/MS tests measure the exact contents of a sample. Strip tests give you a Go/No-Go result based on the presence of the whole range of cannabinoid metabolites. GC/MS tests look at only the primary metabolite of THC.

For this reason, the numeric threshold for GC/MS tests is lower that of most immunoassay tests (15 ng/ml v. 50 ng/ml), but they actually indicate the same level of THC metabolites. Prepare the same way you would for an immunoassay test. See the sticky thread at the top of this forum.

Typically, the two guys that already answered you have the right information. This is just my .02

Both a urine test and a hair test typically have two components, a GC/MS component and an immunoassay component. But since GC/MS takes longer and is more expensive than the immunoassay component, they only use GC/MS to confirm samples that have already tested positive under the immunoassay component. (Of course they always charge for both tests on every sample whether or not they actually conduct them both.)

Since you are looking at employment in a clinical setting, your employer may do their sample testing in-house where all samples are tested with only GC/MS. But if they are using a commercial testing facility like Psychemedics, the GC/MS will be a secondary confirmation test only.

Thank all of you for your help. I'm sure that what is meant to be will happen.
I think that I'm just going to go get some fruit pectin, and maybe some OMNI pills, or I may just get multiple packets of fruit pectin and then I'm going to do the MacCujo method of cleansing my hair.

After that, it's all in The God and Goddess' hands.
