What's up guys. I just got a job offer I really wanted, and my new manager told me that I would have to pass a hair follicle drug test that he said detected drug use up to a year ago. The thing is, I'm a cynical, worrysome individual anyway so here's my deal.

I don't use marijuana, however I'm sometimes in the presence of friends who use. Over the past 3 months, I'm sure I've only been in the presence of second hand smoke about 3-4 times maybe, the longest period of time being maybe a couple hours in a fairly small living room with 4 people smoking. Everyone I've talked to say I have nothing to worry about, but I've been doing some research, and some research says I could have something to worry about. Do you guys think I'm screwed? Do you think I need to MacCujo my hair or use Aloe Rid? Anything would help, guys. I really do appreciate it.

Sorry, I forgot the mention that the last time I was around smoke was probably about 3-4 weeks ago, and that was the time I was in the room with the 4 smokers for a couple hours.

Generally second hand smoke gets raw THC ON your hair, the hair tests look for THC metabolites IN your hair. The testing labs thoroughly wash the samples to remove any contaminants (including THC) from the outside of the hair before they start the actual tests.

Even if you breathed enough second hand smoke to get second hand high, you would need to have been second hand high more than 2 or 3 times in the last 90 days to be concerned about passing the hair test.

If you are still feeling cynical and worried, go ahead and do the Mac ritual. It can't hurt you, but it could give you peace of mind.
