I have been smoking for over 13 years almost once a week (on average), taking occasional one month breaks here and there. In the past 3 months I have smoked about 5 bowls in December, about 3-4 in January, the last being January 30. I bought a home drug test last week and submitted my leg hairs (which are about an inch long). My results came back negative.

I've read all over the place that body hair is used if head hair is unavailable. What I don't understand is that body hair length is finite. So how can THC get into body hair that is already at its fixed length? I'm assuming some sort of shedding takes place and any new hair that grows in its place would contain the THC. Is this correct? Also, why didn't I test positive in my leg hairs for THC??

Your assumption is correct and I don't know why you tested negative. Lucky? maybe. Maybe your usage wasn't heavy enough to get THC in your hair. As with urine testing, every BODY is different.

Maybe you should have sent in your head hair to the lab to see what results you would get. You may very well be very lucky.

So it's possible that one of two things happened. Either my usage is not heavy enough to be detected as you said, or my leg hairs haven't shed. Anyway, I went in for the real test earlier today. According to the company who sold me my home test, I should get the same results. Thanks for your reply.

I hope they are right, but do you think they would tell you that it wouldn't. They are sales persons.... I think you were lucky and hopefully will be again. Let us know your results.
