What's going on guys,

I was a very habitual smoker up until I found out I would be taking a hair test. I scheduled the date and will be 88 days clean when I take the test. My test is in mid May. Should I be doing a lot to "treat" my hair? Also, I plan on basically shaving my entire body and cutting my hair to about .75" or a little less. This is an internship and I do not need the job right away. I would rather have to come back and take the test a few weeks later then to fail the drug test as I will still have a job while "waiting" to "re-take" the test if it is necessary. What do you guys think about my cutting my hair so short and shaving the rest of my body. Also, do you think this is even that necessary? Like I said, I will be 88 days clean on the day of the test?...

There was just a big discussion on cutting hair real short and shaving your body. You could find it by searching, it was just a few days ago and should be easy to find.
I don't recommend cutting you hair below the 1.5" that is preferred for a sample. You can see more on that if you are interested when you do the search.
With 88 days clean you shouldn't need to do anything. I think you should pass without treatment. You could use a shampoo or something to make you feel better, but you don't need any drastic treatment.
It's not necessary to shave you body either. If you're into that go ahead but you don't need to do it.

I think the discussion to which 1toke is referring was in my recent thread about my test. It's still on the front page, here

If you cut your hair to 1" at 67 days, then by 88 days your hair should have grown back to 1-3/8" and the collector should take it without question, mine did. If you can push back the test day without suspicion, and you really want to be sure, cut your hair to 1" on day 88 and push back the test day 3 or 4 more weeks. Cutting your hair to 1" at 88 days would mean that the oldest hair on your head after the cut would have been formed 28 days after you stopped smoking, almost certainly clean enough to be undetectable, and all the hair growing after that would be even cleaner. Cutting your hair to 1" at 67 days would still mean that the oldest hair on your head after the cut was formed 7 days after you stopped smoking. The choice is up to you. At 7 days new hair would probably still need treatment, at 28 days new hair would probably be clean. The dividing line between new hair needing treatment and not needing treatment is probably somewhere in between.

Notice how all my statements are qualified with "probably," nothing is certain, I don't even know if I passed my test yet. We don't have absolute answers, just opinions.

I don't even like to figure how many days someone has been clean.

There is a lot more fact than you think in your above post. Instead of going through all that figure on when and how much to cut your hair and then hoping your hair grows at the average of 0.5"/month.

Don't you think this is easier:

They test the first 1.5" from the scalp. Treat your head hair period.

Even if you are Rapunzel. The root end is indentified, put in the envelope. The lab receives it. Cuts 1.5" from the root end. Discards the rest. You either pass or fail depending if the treatment you did works for you.

yeah sure, that's easier. But the guy was already talking about cutting his hair. I was just offering another alternative, some grist for the mill, some fuel for the fire, some food for thought, some...
