Hi everyone, here's my story

I have a job offer, but it's restricted to some drug tests that I'll have to take in 10 more days (urine, blood and hair, all three).

I had only smoke marijuana, last time I did it was exactly 2 months ago (April 14th) when I splitted one joint with 2 friends (got very high though) , and before that was 3 months before (new year, when I had a couple of joints myself).

I know I'm clean for blood and urine tests I think (right?), but I'm concerned about hair test (male, 27, 5.11", 170 lbs), which I've read has a 3 months period.

My hair is about 3 inches long, but it grows really slow (should I get a hair cut?).

The thing is that due to time issues I have to quit my actual job to be able to take the tests (also I'd rather turn down the job offer than having a small chance of testing positive, but I really want it!!)

I am outside the US, but the samples will be examined there.

Are the results pretty different depending on the lab?
Is there a chance they detect more than 3 months?
Should I prepare my head/body hair?
What are my chances?

Many questions.. please help me Im freaking out!

As grillmeats told you. If you smoked 1 time in 5 months you should be fine. You don't need any treatment. You should be under the cut off limit.

As I told you thats my real somking history, so I'm hoping not to test positive

I think I will be very very nervous anyways.

a couple of quistions though:

- how are the results announced by the lab? I mean, if they just say if you are under/above the cut off limit or they tell the concentration found?

- are there any other labs that make this test (I've heard about Quest ans Physm.) that have a longer detection time period?

would you say my chances are 80%, 90% or maybe 100%?

If you have a major league baseball team in your area, during the 7th inning stretch they will put it up on the Jumbotron during the first home game after the results come in! Sorry just kidding. If you pass immunoassay you will not get a number because of how immunoassay works. If you get a non-negative on immunoassay they will confirm with GC/MS and get a number either passing or failing. If you fail that you fail the test and then it is up to the MRO to tell you the number or not. I think the MRO should tell you the value but Sec3 can answer that better. I know someone who failed a test and they had to track down the MRO because he called once and didn't really try that hard to call again.

This detection time limit is set at 90 days, 1 & 1/2 inches across the board by medical and government standards.

According to the FAQ section which I hope you read and the lab web sites, you should pass 100% but nothing in life is certain but taxes and death.

I've read the FAQ section, but there is no confirmation on how many times you could smoke during the 90 days prior to the test:


"Q: How many hits are required to get 1 pg/mL of Carboxy THC into your system?
A: "You need to smoke atleast 3 times over the tested time period for there to be enough THC to test positive." - Mustangabd (I found this in the "question about time period" thread? Is this really accurate.)"

That's all I have found on that.

Did I miss anything or are you guys relyaing on this single comment? (hope you are not!)

That is what I am going on and it has been pretty reliable. I don't remember anyone failing using this guideline. In fact this is the only time I ever remember it being questioned if it was accurate.
If something on this site that is in a sticky (not a general post) is found inaccurate it is updated. This hasn't been dispelled by anyone and remains as originally posted in the FAQ's. The fact it remains a sticky on this site is confirmation enough for me.
The option to treat or not to treat your hair is yours. We give opinions but only you can make the decision.
We give advice using our personal experience and from what we have read and learned. Nobody can tell you with 100% accuracy that you will pass a hair test unless you have never smoked pot in your entire life.
If we give a percentage it is only a guess based on the knowledge that we have. Only the results of the test will tell you for sure. The test results from the MRO are the final answer.
As a side note: One person that I know of on this forum even passed a home hair test and failed the "real" test. So even testing yourself with a home test isn't a 100% guranteed pass.
Don't ask me why the person passed the home test and failed the "real" test. All I know is someone made that post and I can believe it or call them a liar. I choose to just report what they said.
Since this is a forum on the internet it is up to you whether the info on this site or the replies you get are reliable. I could give you a list of the ones that I consider reliable but you can figure that out by the post count, reputation points and thank you's a member has.

I didn't mean to be offensive or anything, I just wanted to know the source, since I couldn't find any post where it was questioned.

I understand that results may be differrent under similar circumstances because they depend on many things, i am not looking for somebody to tell me "you WILL pass no matter what".

There are many experienced people on this site, and if that guideline is not questionable by them, that's enough for me.

Sorry if you misunderstood my previos post, I probably should have rephrase it.

I really appreciatte all the info and advice I had found on this site, it has been really helpfull.

I will update the situation once I take the test, probably it will help another paranoic newbie like me lol

You are welcome. I would say your chances are 99.9% that you will pass. The MRO will call you if there is a problem with your test. If you don't hear from the MRO you passed. If you get the job you passed. They usually don't come right out and say "You passed".
