Hey Message Boarders:

I am going in for plastic surgery in a few weeks and I also have to go in for some tests that I guess have to do with me going into surgery. Would it be customary for there to be any drug testing going on (for marijuana) or would there be a way to notice it through these customary tests that they would be doing.

Just ask the attending physcian what kind of tests are going to be done...you have a right to know and thy must disclose what they are testing for

It would not be customary for them to do any type of drug test.

Let us pretend that they did... Why would they and who would they tell?

Exactly. But be truthful if they ask if you do any recreational drugs. Some of the meds they give you may possibly interact. They can't legally even tell anybody.. it's personal information.

I sort of have the same problem. I need to get myself tested for Lyme's Disease, but the problem is I smoked last night. I'm also a minor. Supposing they do perform a drug test, would they be obligated my parents/the police/my school/the insurance company? I'm pretty sure I have Lyme's, but they're gonna have to do a blood test and I don't know if it's worse to delay the blood test or get caught!

theyhave to have your permission to take a drug test and even if they do take one and you fail they cant tell noone because of doctor patient confidentiality

Be careful about telling any doctor if you use drugs. If you ever have to get a federal security clearance (for a job)they make you sign a BS paper that releases your doctors/psychiatrists from the doctor/patient confidentiality.

I am having plastic surgery aswell...in a week. I am not really worried about it showing up in blood tests. (Canada is kinda cool that way.)

But my concerns are health related. Is there any negative effects to smokin' before surgery. I was told to quite smoking cigerettes 1 month before and after.

Did anyone have any kind of surgery and still smoked ganja? Any complications?
How long did you smoke before surgery? after?

If anyone else has any advice.... please ....
