| Wasn't too sure where to stick this...so if proper thread location is needed, im all for it ![]() Anyway, to make a long story short, I was an occasional smoker that went daily a ways back. Recently I was diagnosed with high blood pressure, Im a fairly young guy, so to say that I was concerned is an understatement. I was having chest pains, and as a result, I was put on blood pressure meds. Then I was fine, still smoking everyday, but fine. Then I got a blood pressure cuff ![]() Low and behold, when I smoke it kicks up my blood pressure a bit, but nothing prepared me for the next number I normally have a pulse of around 60 (pretty good if i do say so), but after I fired up my old buddy, a took my vitals again and my pulse spiked to 160 (and my chest being rdy. Needles to say, I sh@t a brick. I tried it out again the next day, and same thing. I also tested it out on my bro, and his has about the same effect. To make this long story a bit shorter, my Q is this: How much effect should smoke normally have on a persons pulse and or blood pressure? Have I gotten into a batch of something bad (cause it really muffes me and my buds up, darn quick too)? Thanks | |

| Jr. Member | I'm not a doctor. Having said that; yep, pot smoking can both raise your blood pressure and quicken your pulse. Does it worry you? Ask your MD about it, be frank with your MD, and listen when she is frank with you [no, I'm not insane, and yes, I am aware that not all physicians are pot friendly - if your MD isn't 'state of the art' or is biased out of personal ignorance, get a new MD]. You may have to give up pot. [I know my Grandfather actually wept when his MD told him he'd have to give up cheesecake... but he still did it.] On the plus side... there isn't even one recorded case of someone dying from the effects of smoked marijuana. Not one. [I'm still looking, though...]

| Jr. Member | That depends on the health and cardio fitness of the individual. Mine sometimes doubles briefly, but it is usually not a long lasting effect. I generally find that yoga breathing or some other form of meditation also helps a lot. |
