I am about to take out a fairly nice sized life insurance policy and my broker tells me they will be collecting urine and blood. I know they are testing for nicotine and drugs. I am an occosasional smoker of marijuana and cigarettes.

Can somebody give me an idea of how long I need to stay clean from each kind of smoke so that I don't bet smoker rates?

Personally id say **** the life insurance. Browse the forum, maybe search the net on the cig thing, and you might find what you need. Good luck.

Thanks for responding, but if you don't mind, I think I'll ignore your advice about the life insurance. If one tests positive for canniboids, you are classified as a smoker (same for nicotine), in which case you end up paying 75% to 100% more for the same policy.

Thanks anyway (and I've done some research on nicotine, its only sticks around in you urine for a few days, so it is the pot I'm worried about. I'm 5'8" about 180, in fairly descent shape and smoke about once or twice a month. I'm guessing about 10 days off I should pass ok, what do you think?)

THC has been known to stay in the system up to 30 days. 10 days is taking a risk. I wasn't giving advice about the life insurance, I was just being an asshole, ignore it. I know with the cotton swab test that they usually do to test for nicotine can go back 4 months have no clue how it works but thats what it is.
