| My parents are having me tested for ADD tomarrow, and are QUITE persistant on me going, so I'm like, ok wtf? Well my friend just had a test and they took blood to test it. If I tell the doctor I smoke, will he tell my parents or can he not by law? If he will look for marijuana and all that, then I'm going to say f it on not take blood. Btw, I'm 17 and still live w/ my parents. Basically the question is, how far does client privilage go? Thanks! Teh Dell

| The use of marijuana is only detectable in your blood for 1 - 2 days after your last use. Also, it is also true your doctor cannot repeat anything private you tell him (even to your parents), unless you're in danger for yourself or someone else. I don't think you've got anything to worry about man. Take it easy. 7inTeak |

| as far as i know because you are a minor, you have no privacy. i mean that in the general sence. they will talk to you privetly, but they have a legal duty to inform parents of what is going on. i could be wrong though, i'm no lawyer. monk

| monk may not be a lawyer, but he's right. until you're 18, your parents have the right to know everything the doctor knows. unless of coarse you're being ADD tested by a psychiatrist (which is often the case). a psychiatrist cannot repeat anything you tell him to anyone without your permission no matter how old you are. only a regular MD has to tell your parents whatever he finds. but unless your parents ask the doctor for a drug test, you'll be fine. i passed a doctor's piss test the day after i smoked so you never know. |
