Smokemesilly, you may want to add some Paul Mitchell Cleanse 3 to the mix. It may bleed some of the color out of your hair but you can always redye (it states not to use on color treated hair).

I have a friend that works for the state and she informed me before I went to take a hair test for pre-employment that if I dyed my hair red it would take any traces of drugs and make them unreadable. I had already gone through three boxes of zydot and bleached it at this point and it worked, although expensive and drying as all get up to my hair. But I have seen numerous cases of people that did use the red hair dying before testing and it worked. Just thought I would throw that out there for debate... Also, any time you dye your hair color will come out when you wash it. That's why colors tend to fade so fast over time. When I used Zydot, it did take some of my color out due to the harsh nature of the shampoo on your hair I am sure. The best thing to do if you don't try the red dye, would be to use the Zydot up to the day of your test and then if you re-color your hair or if you just want to keep it the color it is, use a shampoo that is color safe...Matrix has some of the best products that I have found, kerastase is a little more expensive but it's worth it all the way. It will keep your color, not strip it and make your hair soft and shiny. Hope that helped a little bit...

Why would red dye be any different than black dye?

Dye is dye, if you go one shade darker than your color, by the time the color sets, you are just about perfect. Aloe Rid, Toxin Wash, and Zydot(as well as others) all pull excess color the first few days. That is the reason I recommend the final treatment five days prior to the test.

:-) thanks for the post Jerry, I did my last bleach and dye on thursday night, 5-6 days before my test. I got my zydot in the mail, and plan to use it the day of. Don't want to do maccujo just incase it strips the dye.

Actually dye isn't dye...The different colors are made up of different chemicals which is the reason that some people are allergic to some colors as opposed to others. The chemicals in red dye would be the reason that it hides the history of usage in your hair.

Actually, I think it's the bleaching (stipping) of the hair that helps you to pass. The dyeing back to the original color is so it doesn't look like you are trying to beat a hair test. It's not against the law to dye your hair but if you went for an interview and were told you had a hair test and then showed up for work with blonde hair, it may raise some interest. I don't think they could do anything about it, but why draw attention to yourself when it isn't necessary. Kind of like taking vitamin B with the dilution method for a piss test. They can't fail you on the color of your piss, but why raise any suspicion.

I don't want people to think that I don't post results. I had my drug test today, and turns out it was only a urine test. Since I was not given a packet specifically saying which test I will take, I had to assume the worst. (companiesthatdrugtest dot com said that my company does hair, blood, and urine, so i took the proper precautions and got quick fix and zydot just to be on the safe side) The drug test packet was Fedexed to the clinic directly, so not until i got there that I found out it was going to only be a urine test. Anyways, I gave my quick fix sample at the proper temp, now I gotta wait for the results. Cross your fingers for me!
