Oooook, so here is the beginning of my story. I am about to have to take a Hair test in the next week, probably the 9th. I have read a lot on here and have come up with a few thoughts. First, if you don't have money to spend, BORROW IT! The ones who passed seemed to have done a Bleach/Redye, Perm or Hair Relaxer of some sort. Research Research Research. EDTA is key in all shampoos. PM3 has three of them, while Nexxus only has one. Don't wash it once, do it three times! I play my iPod stereo during all of this and count the songs, so I don't get bored during the washings. While I'm doing my MAC Method I go for at least 30 minutes for each step, and use Vaseline on the ears, forehead, and neck. More is better!!! Do everything!! But do it smartly!!

I'm a Heavy Smoker, quarter a week for 2 years

6 ft+, 150 lbs; Dark brown hair, Thick, Coarse, 2in on top, 1 1/2 in on sides; High Metabolism

Mac Method
•Apple Cider Vinegar (20 min)
•Clean & Clear: Advantage 2% Salicylic Acid (20 min)

Saturday Nov 3rd (33 days sober)

Morning
Washed hair w/ Nexxus Aloe Rid (10 min)

*Bought Spray Bottles for Vinegar and C&C – Way Easier
*Bought Clean & Clear Astringent: 2% Salicylic Acid

Mac Method
•Apple Cider Vinegar (30 min)
•Clean & Clear: Astringent (Pink) (30 min)
•Tide Original Liquid (20 min)
•Nexxus Aloe Rid (Twice) (15 min)
•Blow Dried Hair

Afternoon
*Bought Paul Mitchell Shampoo Three

•Washed hair w/ Paul Mitchell 3: scrubbed, and then put more on 5 minutes into it, scrubbed, rinsed (10min)

Mac Method
•Applied Vaseline on ears and neck first
•Apple Cider Vinegar w/ Shower Cap and Hot Towel Around Head (30 min)
•Clean & Clear: Astringent (Pink), 2nd layer after 10min, 3rd layer after 30min (40min)
•Tide Orig. Liquid: scrubbed in good, re-scrubbed 10min later, and re-scrubbed 10min later (20 min)
•Paul Mitchell 3: Scrub in, Rinsed, Added More, Scrub In, Rinsed (10min)
•Nexxus Aloe Rid: Scrub in, Rinsed, Added More, Scrub In, (10 min)
•Blow Dried Hair

Sunday Nov 4th (34 days sober)

Morning
•Washed hair w/ Paul Mitchell 3: scrubbed, rinsed; put more in, scrubbed, rinsed (8min)
•Washed hair w/ Nexxus Aloe Rid Shampoo: scrubbed, rinsed (5min)

Afternoon
•Washed hair w/ Paul Mitchell 3: scrubbed, rinsed (5min)
•Tanned at a Tanning Salon (7min, level 2)

Mac Method
•Applied Vaseline on ears and neck first
•Apple Cider Vinegar w/ Shower Cap and Hot Towel Around Head (30 min)
•Clean & Clear: Astringent (Pink) (30min)
•Tide Orig. Liquid: scrubbed in good, re-scrubbed 10min later, and re-scrubbed 10min later (20 min)
•Paul Mitchell 3: Scrub in, Rinsed, Added More, Scrub In, Rinsed (10min)

Aloe Rid shampoo does nothing. Aloe Rid treatment has propylene glycol which is proven to reduce thc metabolites in your hair.

You really should use Zydot the day of the test.

Ok, excellent. So that means the PM3 is good, right? I have the Aloe Rid Treatment coming in the mail tomorrow, stuff is discontinued. How long should I leave it in? And I bought Zydot already for the day of my test. Should I do another one the day before?

Does pm3 have propylene glycol?

It doesn't have propylene glycol, but it has the EDTA chemicals, 3 of them.

Found this website that will tell you what products have certain chemicals in it. Pretty good info.

So, what do you think I should do to change my routine? I have a hair appointment tomorrow with my stylist. Get it bleached and redyed? or permed? I have a Zydot, but no Toxin Wash. Should I do that right after she does my hair tomorrow? I am also about to go to the tanning bed tonight. Is that good? I hear UV is great

With your usage, I think you'would be a fool not to go for a full blown bleach and redye. Leave the bleach(30strenght peroxide, ignore it when your hair gal protests) in 30 minutes, then rinse with the Aloe Rid Treatment. After you redye, rinse the dye with the Aloe rid.

Do the Zydot the morning of your test.

Ok, rock'n good. I rescheduled my hair appointment for tomorrow because my Aloe Treatment doesn't come in until tomorrow. I will tell her to leave it in for 30 mins like you said and wash it out with the Aloe Treat. Once that is all done and I come home what should I do? Baking soda? Aloe Treatment again? . . . . ? Toxin Wash?


My test is on Thursday NOWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!! CRAP

Should I Toxin Wash tomorrow? And Zydot on Wed? and Zydot Thursday before my test? And What is deal with using Baking Soda before treatments? and when?

Sorry for all these questions, I was calm, and now I am freaking since I know my date now!!!!! HELP

And Jerry . . . . I just talked to my hair dresser. She said that the bleach is only 12%, but she can make it a higher volume. Should I have her bleach it and wash it out with the Aloe Treat and do it again, and then redye? She said that shampooing after the Bleaching will make my scalp bleed. So do I still wash it out with the Aloe Rid?

And can I find Bleach that is 30% peroxide? What type?

Also, just went to CVS and found "Neutrogena T/Gel: Therapeutic Shampoo, Stubborn Itch Control" which has Propylene Glycol in it and .5 Coal Tar. And I found "Neutrogena T/Sal: Scalp Build-Up Control" which has Propylene Glycol and has 3% Salicylic Acid!! Good or Bad?? Love ya Jerry - In that total beer-watching-football-and-I'm-drunk sort of way.
