Exclamation hair test tomorrow - to bleach or not to bleach?

I found out yesterday my pre-employment test will be a hair sample. I can stall through today, but will likely need to get it done tomorrow if I want the job. I'm hoping I can get some quick advice from the pros (especially Jerry G or 1 tokeovertheline !).

I have short dirty blond hair (approx. 1.5 inches). I normally only party at festivals, but then cut loose on-topic as well as many off-topic substances. My last big fests were middle of August, Labor Day weekend, and first week of October. I haven't done anything inbetween those dates or since, but each of those dates entailed a high degree of different fun stuff.

I've read many of the threads over the past couple days. I've been doing the "Mac" approach last night and this morning. I've ordered 3 separate shampoo/detox products that will arrive tomorrow morning that I plan to use prior to the test.

My question is whether I should bleach my hair and then redye. I tend to think "better safe than sorry." However, because I need to test tomorrow, I'm concerned the testing clinic might somehow know about it and inform my potential employer (contaminated sample or something of that sort). Has anyone heard of bleaching / redying causing suspicion among testing clinics (especially if done the day before the test)??

Secondly, my internet products of choice (intended for day of the test) are Omni shampoo, Zydot, and hair MUDD (all from referrals within these discussions). Any recommendations on what order? The Mudd folks recommended their product be last because it strips the hair of any other chemicals (theoretically eliminating any suspicious residue from the others). However, the Zydot folks said theirs is a "masking" product....leading me to think perhaps it should go on last. Thoughts?

Cool

I am a heavy user and have been talking the Jer Mer for days now. Check my thread "Starting to Clean: Doing it Smartly" The beginning paragraph is somewhat off. The best stuff in Shampoos is the Propylene Glycol, which is not in PM3 or the Aloe Rid Shampoo, but it is in the Neutogena T-Gel and Aloe Rid Treatment.

I would suggest doing a full bleach and leaving it in as long as you can. I did an hour. And wash it out and bleach it again if you want or just do the redye. The redye has peroxide in it to so it will help. Then use a Toxin Wash or a Zydot the day of the test with a Baking Soda paste before them.

And try to go to a salon if you can, since your hair is short it won't cost a lot to bleach and redye. If it's a cool place you can tell them what you are trying to do. aka Kill the hair and strip all that goodness out.

Hope I helped.

aaaand . . . Put some vaseline around your forehead line, ear line, and on the back of your neck while doing the bleach because it will eat your skin alive if you leave it on for an hour. Good Luck.

Thanks, man. I just read your link. Good info. Seems like we're in a similar situation with high stakes. Sounds like you're bleach process went as well as expected.

However, my concern is whether the damage to the hair due to the extreme bleaching measures will raise suspicion from the testers. I'd hate to do something in my zeal to be clean that tips them off I'm messing with the process. Do you think they'll be able to tell you've bleached the hell out of your hair?

Bleaching and Dying your hair is not illegal. Its not tampering. Girls do it all the time. I am going to say that it was for my Halloween costume and it went bad. If you do it at a salon it wont be as bad. If you do it home you might have dye lines around your head. Call salons, they do it all the time. And the hair-sample-taker-person has no idea how your hair used to be, so just don't tell them if they don't ask. They do it constantly and from what I hear they really don't care. Sec would know more than me. And leave the redye in for a good amount so it coats the bleach. Hit me up if you need more answers.

Thanks again DTS.

Jerry G, thank you for replying - I was hoping to hear from you. I'm scheduled to bleach tonight and will be testing tomorrow. Would you recommend I continue the mac treatments after the bleaching tonight or tomorrow morning?

Secondly, I've purchased Omni cleansing shampoo, hair mud (from passyourtest.com), and zydot. Do you have a recommendation on whether I should mix, and if so, in what order.

Thanks so much - your feedback on many of these threads has been invaluable to me.

I would stop major treatments after the bleach and dye. I know nothing of Hair Mud, as far as the other two, use the Omni first and then the Zydot.

Final question then: Is there any advantage to my delaying the test for another day assuming I complete the bleach treatment tonight?

I might be able to push it out to Friday if that would help. However, given the recommendation for no further mac procedures, I guess I might as well roll the dice and get the thing done tomorrow. Thoughts?
