I have a question as to why some companies do urine and hair testing? Why would they do a urine test when they could just do the hair test which is more accurate? It seems it is a waste of money to do 2 tests? What do you you guys think?

There is a ten day lag between usage and when the evidence shows up in your hair. UA's show recent use. It is unusual in a pre employment situation.

Thanks for the info. I did not understand the reasoning behind doing both at the same time. This is what I had to do yesterday for a pre-employment test. I used the macujo method along with aloe rid shampoo and treatment. Will post in the results area whether i pass or fail.

Would a company take a hair sample just as a back up if there was a red flag testing the urine sample? I reside in southern Nevada and I know they are notorious for hair testing in the casino industry, however, I am not applying for a position with the casino industry. I really am not sweating this test as to whether I pass or fail, I mean doubling my salary would be nice, but I have made the decision to quit smoking anyway. In the long run I will eventually have other opportunities, this does not mean that I would not like to see MJ legalized though! Last edited by tiffster : 11-10-2007 at 04:10 AM.

I, personally, have never taken urine AND hair from a single donor at one appointment. I know it is very rare and really had never documented that it actually was done from a 1st account until now. Are you sure the urine wasn't for medical testing such as kidney function or some other reason? Taking the hair as a back-up and storing it if there was a problem or dispute with the urine is entirely feasible.

Unless the company was checking for pre-exisiting conditions, I do not think that that was the reason for both tests at the same time. It is part of the pre-employment process for a medical facility. Perhaps also a scare tactic used for those applying. I previously worked for this company and know that some of the individuals working there now should have not passed the hair test part. I find it rather redundit to do both tests, although it was previously stated by Jerry about the 10 day "window of opportunity" to pass a hair test after smoking pot; therefore, the urine is tested to ensure no current usage. That data was very interesting! Did not know that!

I have been under this testing program before in a child custody situation. I've never heard of it for the workplace.
