Solvent Extraction. Methanol appears to be the solvent of choice for extracting cocaine and metabolites from hair. Pirozhkov and colleagues (1992) found that incubating washed hair samples (50 to 100 mg) in 3 mL methanol for only 2 hours at 60 °C yielded a recovery equivalent to acid extraction for 18 hours. Extending incubation period to 4 hours did not appear to increase recovery. The extracts were purified by a differential pH liquid-liquid extraction procedure similar to that for the extraction of cocaine from plasma (Jatlow 1975, pp. 133-137). No recovery data were given; however, a limit of detection for cocaine of 0.2 ng/mg hair was reported.

They use Methanol to extract.....Same as gasoline...hmmmmmmmmm

They use methanol because its a cheap and fairly effective solvent (also poisonous), you could probably use acetone or ethanol as well.

Methanol is used in remote control cars. You can get 90% Methanol with 10% nitro-methanol at any hobby shop. As it was explained to me the 10% nitro-methanol is added to help add oxygen to the mixture. Therefore it burns a little hotter, for better combustion. This product contains alot less additives than gasoline. It should be under 10 bucks for a Quart. The question is does it work? This is an extremly flamable product. And we dont want another Michael Jackson episode. Does anyone have any proof that this helped them pass a hair test?
