Okay, here is the skinny. I have been a heavy smoker for years (to many to count.) I have a hair test coming up in a month or so. I am 6' tall and about 170lbs with a fairly high metabolism. I quit smoking on Jan 26, 08.I miss my green alot, but I'll probably never be able to do it again due to randoms that they do alot.
My test will be sometime in Late March or even early April. (still not completly sure when.) I bought a complete body detox system, but it contains nothing for hair. I also shaved all of my body hair off. (I already shave my head, and been doing so for about 5 years now.) After I use the detox system, which is an 8 day regiment. I will begin to let my head hair grow out again. I will have about 2 months clean at this time. I really need some good advice here; because I have always been able to beat urine test with out a problem, but this creates a serious delima for me. I look forward to your advice.

Based on your senario, you should be producing clean hair at this point. Don't quote me on this, but as a general rule, I believe 7-14 days after the last time you smoked you will start producing hair above the skin and scalp that is below the detection cut-off.

With that in mind, you need to also remember that by testing time, you will need to have enough body hair growth to sample. Not enough (or any) will equate to an automatic fail. Alternately I hear they will go for finger nail shavings if you don't have enough hair (which I am completely unfamiliar with). I wouldn't do any further shaving since you've only have another month for regrowth.

Now is the time to treat what you do have regrowing to ensure reduced thc metabolites within the folicles. I would personally recommend you purchase either Toxin Wash or more readily T-Gel Shampoo as daily full-body wash treatments. Propylene Glycol content in these products has proven to erode these metabolites. I have also read that the T-Gel formula has contributed to regrowth of hair*, and could assist in speed-up that growth process.

You will also certainly want to pick up some Zydot for treatment the day of the exam. Again, from my experience with body hair, if you do not know specifically where they will be sampling from, you will need 2 orders of Zydot to have enough product for full-body treatment, which will run you about $100.

You could employ the Mac method a couple times a week in addition to the other steps listed above for further insurance, but again, you need hair to treat so depending on your regrowth rate, this may not be worthwhile.

Anyway, 60 days clean, plus a daily treatment regemin should put you in the green zone for passing. The key for you is probably having sufficient hair for sampling at that time. The standard is 1 1/2" for head hair; for body hair, it's probably going to be somewhere in the 1" range due to slower and shorter growth spans (again, don't quote me on that). As I only did a body-trim and had a full 90 days regrowth, I can't tell you what to personally expect.

When not a lot of alternatives are available (especially for us with little to nothing on top) I have seen many case where they will shave and sample lower arm or leg hair with a much shorter length, so be sure that you're treating everthing you are allowing to regrow.

*I can't remember what site I found this information on the hair growth stimulus provided by T-Gel. However it was gleened from an unrelated site listing OTC products that had been shown to assist in the growth of new hair for balding men. This information was found while researching the Propylene Glycol content of T-Gel.

The info is very helpful. Is the T-Gel you speak of though is the Nutragena brand from local retailers? I read in one of the forums that the testers shaved hair (about 200 or so) from one fellow. I would probably tell them the same thing he did about keeping my hair real short. I also always keep my nails short, but I too do not know much about this kind of testing. I also heard that they look at your DL picture to verify hair lenth in the picture. I was slick then also. Let me know about the T-Gel though.

Yes it is just the standard stuff. Just go to the store and pick some up. You may also want to find some conditioner with the same Propylene Glycol as a main ingrediant while you're there.

It also wouldn't hurt to go to the salon and purchase a large bottle of PM3 and use it as your regular shampoo, as well as rinse out treatments with it. I did that. It actually strips your hair, so it has to be useful for what you are trying to do. Good luck.

If you google the phrase "most toxic shampoo" the first link that comes up rates Neutrogena T-Gel Shampoo, Stubborn Itch Control as the most toxic with a score of 9.3/10.

Of note in the description it states that,

"Four ingredients, menthol, propylene glycol, sodium laureth sulfate and tetrasodium EDTA, are penetration enhancers".

I'd say that penetration enhancers can only help your cause (well they won't harm it anyway) and this shampoo has four of them.

I'm just trying to make damn sure I pass this thing. It's very important to me (enough to even give up the green, and thats alot to ask.) I have heard alot of contridictory statements. So If I smoked roughly a month ago, and have shaved all head and body hair off that my new hair should be clean even though I was a heavy smoker up untill the 26th of Jan. By the way the lab will take what you have due to the fact no one knows that they are giving hair test except a select few. I was told by a guy that just went through it that they just shaved hair off him due to his was short. Help reassure me a little.

If you've been clean for a month or have only smoked once in a month..then the new hair thats growing should be clean. I myself will be shaving my head and body hair in a week which would mean that I was 30 days clean. My theory is if its still in your urine..then it can still get into your hair.- since thc gets stored in your fat cells and organs.. kinda of obvious if its coming out of your body its gotta pass through blood. (this has been contradicted but hey its better to be safe than sorry) After 30 days your new hair should be clean. As far as the test I have yet to have mine.. but it'll prolly be in a month or so

Is ~95 days a long enough period to test clean?

I am female and can't help but feel the psychemedics test is biased towards females with long hair. I gave myself 90 days to stay clean, but am starting to freak out again after reading more online about it going as far back as 120 days in addition to the low cut-off levels. I am going in for a short hair cut, but buzzing my hair to 1.5 inches everywhere is something I want to avoid. Will they always take hair from the nape of the neck (because it will def. be the shortest there)?

I bought a spendy detox kit for heavy users with long, thick, hair for the day of the test, but after reading the forums it sounds like these are a crap shoot...

I am going to start using Paul Mitchell 3, Neutrogina T-Gel, Nexxus Aloe in on a regular basis. Should I preform the Mac Method several times the week of the test? I also highlight my hair...

I just really need some peace of mind here. I will prob. go in for my own, independent test, provided that the results will be confidential, but I really can't push back my start date any further. Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

Test yourself, you should be fine...
