Ok, so I've read all of the results section and still have questions. I smoked twice in the last few weeks before finding out I would need to take a hair test for a new job in the next few weeks. (Before that it had been at least 6 months, and then only once every 6 months or so before that.) Specifically: 2/9 - 3 tokes on a pipe (good stuff - strong buzz) 2/23 - 2 tokes on a pipe (weak stuff - very little effect) Stats in case it helps: 6'0", 205 lb., fairly fine hair, normal metabolism (I guess). I've seen the "3 sessions in 90 days" guideline and know that I "should be ok." But what is the definition of a "session?" Does anyone know of cases where someone smoked only once or twice and still tested positive? Should I be worried about the fact that these sessions were recent? Should I avoid cutting my hair since I was clean before that? Is the strength of the weed on the first session a factor? I plan to try the mac method at least a few times to be safe. (Bleach and redye is unfortunately not really an option.) Anything else I should try? Even though I should be ok I'm extremely worried since I have a lot riding on this test (more than just a job). I'm pissed at myself for having done this but didn't even know about the hair test until just now. p.s. Many thanks to everyone for the advice here. I might recommend creating a sticky for "I've only smoked a few times and..." The results section doesn't seem to have a lot of info for very light smokers, but I'll definitely post my results there. Thanks.

Crap, crap, crap! I just remembered that I smoked a little on New Year's Eve with a friend. Now I'm totally, completely, undoubtedly freaking out. Help! Grand total: 1/1 - 3 or so tokes on pipe (ok stuff) 2/9 - 3 tokes on a pipe (good stuff - strong buzz) 2/23 - 2 tokes on a pipe (weak stuff - very little effect) I'm 99.9% sure that's it. But now I feel I'm totally borderline and scared sh**less. I can put off the test until 3/24 but that's about it. Many thanks. ![]()

Don't cut your hair. Do some Mac treatments.Do a Mac treatment and use Zydot the day of the test. You will be fine.

Jerry G - thanks for the reply. Can't thank you enough for your contributions on this site. I know you're a bleach and redye fan. I had ruled that out, but am now rethinking given the fact that I remembered the New Year's episode. The problem with dyeing is twofold. One, I have very salt and pepper hair, so it would be pretty obvious if I dyed it. Two, the wife doesn't know I smoked and let's just say she would not be happy about it. Since I'm not really the hair dyeing type, it would be a little strange to do it all of the sudden. However, given the gravity of the situation (i.e. repercussions of failing the test) I'm considering it instead of (or in addition to) the mac treatments. I'm willing to go to a professional salon to try to get the most natural look, but I don't know if they can truly recreate a salt and pepper look. Also don't know if they normally bleach before they color. Finally also don't know if I should bleach/redye my body hair. Any thougths?

Tell your wife you had a "midlife crisis" and that is why you dyed the grey out of your hair. That would be my best advice. The best advice in this thread was Jerry G's. You only smoked a couple of times. How long is your hair? You are a guy, so I'm thinking not all that long. Remember, it takes one month approxmately to grow hair 1/2 inch. If your hair is only 1 inch long, then you only have 2 months growth on your head. A couple tokes isn't really a "session" in my book. Sure, you take in THC, but not as much as if you smoked 3 blunts by yourself. I really think Jerry G was "spot on" with his advice. The best thing you can do for yourself is stay calm and do not panic. Continue to read, especially the results thread. It is long, and like you say, there isn't a lot with your light usage, but you can take solace from it in that most with your level of marijuana use have passed a drug test.

Thanks for the reply and advice Sec. I appreciate the suggestion to not panic, but I'm afraid that ship has sailed and I've got a month of anxiety ahead of me... I had considered the mid-life crisis explanation, and I'm really on the fence on mac vs. bleach/dye. I can put this off until late March, so I should be right at 90 days for the New Year's tokes. My hair is always fairly short, so I can go 1.5 or even 1.25 inches no problem. Besides I think my hair grows a little faster than normal.

I have to agree, the Mac will probably get the job done. Finish off with Zydot the day of the test, and you are there. If you're looking to bolster your Mac treatments (and thus your confidence) without having to break it to your wife, I suggest daily shampooing with T-Gel, and you could always consider adding an at-home perm to the project (you don't have to curl or style your hair to use the perm treatment.) -Mastese

Awesome advice Mastese - thanks. I hadn't seen too much info on applying the home perm, but it makes sense. (I guess anything to damage the crap out of the hair). I think a mac/perm/zydot makes more sense than bleach/redye in my case. Might still bleach/redye the rest of my body hair though just to be safe.

Right on paranoid113! Just make sure the perm treatment contains ammonium thioglycollate as an active ingredient. I used Toni Silkwave, which has it (for about $9). The only word of caution there is to be aware of the unmistakeable oder that is created by perm treatments. This is only an issue if you are utilizing at-home stealth tactics...which I am fully familiar with. It could be difficult to explain that smell to your wife, so plan on contingencies to cover or clear that from the air. Just another word of warning on the perm (as another user reported this problem)...realize that even without curlers, a perm will permanently align your hair in the position that you allow the solution to burn it in. So if you wash your hair (as instructed) and then leave it damp enough to be matted down to your head in some weird, unnatural position...it will stay that way. My head hair is very short always (1/4") and stands straight. So even damp, my hair remians in it's natural position...so realize what you're doing when your doing it. I won't be responsible for you passing your test but ending up looking like a goof-ball. I would moreover recommend this a a treatment for body hair as opposed to head hair unless you know what you are doing. Also, I'm not totally sold on the bleach/redye of body hair (with the exception of the pit area)...but it also depends on the shade. Due to the lack of density of body hair, unless you are super carefull and skilled, you will most certainly encounter some discoloration of your skin due to direct contact. I'm no expert here, but I did experience some discoloration of my pit-area, although I have very dark-brown hair and so the dye was more intense. This discoloration will typically fade over the following week. It was also milder in the pit area since there is much more hair and less skin exposed. This had discouraged me from attempting it on any other part of my body. Anyway, you get the picture. Good luck, -Mastese Last edited by Mastese : 03-01-2008 at 04:58 AM.

Thanks again Mastese. My hair is short on sides and back and only 1.5-2 inches on top. As for the home perm, I'm guessing I could lay my hair down in it's normal position and be ok. Anyone else have experience with the home perm approach? Also, has anyone *ever* heard of someone failing a hair test after only a few sessions of a few hits? I've been combing the results section but have seen very little info on this.
