So, Jerry, you are the king of info here...I would love some advice. I have read through several threads, but can't find specific instructions for the bleach/redye or other methods for heavy users. My boyfriend had to take a hair test about two years ago and I found this site. We did the Mac method for a few days...I think maybe a total of 5 times...it didn't work. I don't remember his level at the moment, but it was pretty low...maybe we were close to success. Anyway, it fried his head and my hands and since he still didn't pass, we're not excited about trying it again. Here's more info... He's 6'0", 170 lbs, very high metabolism, fairly active, water drinker (not that that matters), pretty thin, fine, medium brown short hair Fairly HEAVY smoker of high quality weed for 20 years. He did quit for several months in 2006 and a couple of brief stints smokeless since. He has basically been smoking since May of 2007 with no real down time. I would say at least two joints and 2 bowls every day....that's just what I'm aware of, so there's probably more. Anyway, he hasn't smoked since Saturday, he's taking goldenseal and drinking water and cranberry juice...we know that won't clean his hair. There is no real deadline, but he would like to pass a test as soon as possible so that his attorney can move forward with custody issues. A couple of weeks would be great, if that's doable. I'm just getting confused reading all of the other posts. I would like specific information for a heavy, chronic user...can it be done? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated!

Read the results thread in reverse going back one year. Formulate a plan and I'll advise you on it.

That's the problem, I can't come up with a plan. From what I can tell, the best bet would be bleach/redye with a zydot rinse. I just can't find the specifics of the bleach/redye...like, what is 40? There are different time limits and repeats, two or three?, day of the test or a week before?...alas, I will keep reading...he has been using aloe rid for a year...good to know we can stop buying that . Anyway, I'll be back with a more specific plan....

So, after further reading, I think we may try a bleach redye. I'm thinking I could find out about the 40 thing from Sally when I go... it keeps making me think of motor oil... Anyway, so we could Bleach his hair with the 40 stuff, shampoo with something that has a high pg content, and dye it back a few hours later. Wash with the high pg stuff a couple times a day everyday and then bleach again maybe a week later (redying the same day) Then schedule the test for maybe the following day doing zydot before he goes in???? ??????????????????? He could just wait, but he won't get his 4 weeks with his kids this summer....which sucks. Just some input....does that sound right?

So, after all that, I changed my mind anyway. As I was driving to Sally, I realized that he made the choice to smoke even though he was fully aware of the consequences. Maybe waiting to be truly clean will teach him a thing or two. If he wants to know, he can do the research and spend his money. I love him, but I can't fix his screw-ups. It was his choice. Thanks anyway!
