I posted a thread a week or so ago and never got any response...so i went ahead with a few methods....i need some insight because my hair can't take much more...

i used the mac method about 3 times before having a chance to do as much research on here...jerry g says the acids close the cuticle so after going through all this to open why would i put my self through that. Not saying the Mac doesn't work on certain people but with my hair color (dark brown) and smoking history i knew i needed to do something else...

when i take the test i will be 34 days clean....would either consider myself a moderate or heavy smoker just depending on the time period...

I order toxin wash--used that "one time" with two back to back washes as instructed....

had my hair bleached/ redyed professionally...and had my hairdresser wash the bleach out with TW...

I have used the TW for one more wash...not twice just washed once...

i still have enough TW left for 2 sessions - 4 more washes

Have been using a clarifying/detoxifying shampoo that i picked up at a hair salon. It has PG in it. It is called RUSK Clarifying & Detoxifying Shampoo

I would just like some insight...my scalp is killing me...my ears are dry...and my hair feels like straw...i plan on using the rest of my TW before my test May 8th....but should i take other precautions?? i honestly dont think i can go through another bleach...i am a female and my hair is about to my shoulders...

everyone who post on this page has been very helpfully...if i hadn't have found it then i wouldn't have had a chance in the world at passing this test...

help?

You've done a lot, like Sec says, it never hurts to do more.

If you can bleach and one more time it would be good.

I have a hair straightener ...ogilvie brand....do you think i could use it instead of a second bleach/redye and still get the desired results?? i have thick hair and i don't really have anyone to help me bleach and redye at home...like i said i still have a good amount of TW left so i can wash the straightener lotion out with TW and even the nuetralizer....

also Jerry G, do you think i should still order maybe Zydot for test day??

Is there any conditioning product that you have used or seen used that will help me out with the metabolites and wont trap any toxins in the shaft??

my hair literally feels like straw...i know this is only temp. but its pretty bad...

That stuff may be more effective than bleaching and dying(though I don't know that).

It's for sure not going to hurt your chances....

Lol I know what you mean about not being able to take more. I did the mac method 3 times in two days, left each thing in for 30 min. I used a shower cap, and everywhere around the band of that cap my skin got irratated, dried and eventually scabbed up. I have begun JG's process today, and bleached my hair for the first time, leaving it in for an hour, ten minutes over the recommended limit. My scalp hurts bad! I am using petroleum jelly to keep the stuff off my face, neck, and ears, as I may have many upcoming in person interviews coming up and cant go in looking like a freak.

If you have the time, spread them out more, it seems to heal fast. In my case, its all worth it if it works. Doing the mac method and then the bleach on the same or back to back days is F'in bad! This makes it considerabley worse.

Oh yeah, and I have read on one or two sites that one effective way to get to the contams out is to damage the hair with harsh chemicals and/or sunlight. Bleaching and dying is specifically mentioned. This breaks down its outter layers, and exposes the cuticle, so its good that your hair looks bad and feels like straw, this means its in bad shape, which is the desired effect.

I guess we will see how effective my procedures have been...a friend of mine owns a testing facility...so i went to the office tonight to have a hair sample taken....it is being sent to Omega Labs...it will be sent over night, picked up in the morning....after it is recieved at the lab, it takes 24 hours for a non-negative...if it has to go to the MRO then it will take another 24 hours...when i get the results i will post...i will also have the levels so i will know where i stand....it is going to cost me around 80 bucks for the test but it was worth it to me to find out how things are going...i wish i had the extra cash to have taken a sample before any treatment so we could get some better idea on how effective my treatments have been...atleast with this i will know how much more treatment i need and hopefully i wont need any more!! After going through this, i just hope that maybe my experiance will be able to help someone else out. At first i was scared to death to bleach and redye my hair but that def. done damage and changed the structure of my hair, and that is the goal!! I am def. not a light smoker...somedays more than others...maybe this pre test will give more insight to bleaching and redying only once....i am praying for negative but i still have almost 2 weeks before the test for my job to do anything else i need to do...i am still going to continue to use the clarifying/detox shampoo RUSK with the PG on a daily bases....once in the morning and once a night...even if this test comes back neg. i still plan on washing with TW atleast one more time considering my job wont be taking the exact same hair that she took so there is still a chance i might not do so well when the "real thing" comes around....

If anyone has any input it is still greatly appreciated...
