First I want to thank everybody who has contributed to this thread. I found many insightful tips and didn't need to waste any money on cleansing products.

I just took my saliva test today for a job. I last smoked on Monday night at midnight, and the test was this morning (Wednesday) at 9AM. So that's essentially a 33 hour window. I brushed and used mouthwash 2 times on Tuesday (after I discovered I was being tested). Wednesday morning, before the test, I brushed good and mouthwashed again, and ate those LifeSavers mints all the way up to the interview.

When given the swab, I was told to put it between my gum and cheek, and do a brushing motion with it and leave it there. I pretended to put it there, but in actuality I was holding it with my teeth in the middle of my mouth. The swab never touched my cheek, but hit my tongue a little bit. I used the inside of my lips to make it look wetter when I pulled it out. Then, it was bagged and sent off to the lab.

22 yrs old
6'0", 145lbs
great metabolism
chronic user (once or twice every day)
smoked 33 hours prior
brushed/mouthwash 2 times night before
brushed/mouthwash morning of
ate mints all the way up to the test

I'll take the poll as soon as I get the results back in. I wish I had more time, but I had only found out about the test the day before. Thanks to grillmeats and everyone else for the great tips, hopefully they'll let me pass!

With 44 hours clean, thorough brushing and mouthwash should be all you will need. Watch the peroxide, it isn't all that healthy to swish peroxide in your mouth.

Actually rinsing your mouth with peroxide is good oral hygene if diluted 1 part peroxide to 2 parts water. I had a type of thrush in my mouth once and it was recommended by my dentist. Full strength could foam and cause choking. I didn't try it full strength, I just took the dentists word for it.
It also helps to whiten teeth, but it shouldn't be done daily.

Congratulations on passing. I am sure the 84 hrs. helped, but hey..passing is what it's all about. I hope grillmeats still has some chicken left.
